It didn't surprise the girl that she had fainted at work. No, Maddie had been expecting this for a couple days now, with the way her vision had been clouding and her head spun every time she stood up too quickly. No, it surprised her that she had no warning this time, that she was standing one second and flat on the ground the next. What did she remember? She was handing over a latte and running to pick up the Smashbox sets for the models and her memory went black, hitting her head and ending up in the hospital.
Sure, she should have been eating more regularly, with how much running around she did at Vogue but she just couldn't. Working with models and the chicest designers on the planet, she had to appear perfect, thin and waif and as modelesque as she could possible muster. With how short she was she just felt squat and horrible next to nearly everyone she worked with. And she felt a little thinner, definitely not too thin or thin enough to raise any alarms, but she absolutely had to gleefully take in a few dresses. Maddie knew she could be thinner, she could always be thinner, prettier, better dressed. There was no way this was going overboard, many girls she worked with had fainted in the summer heat since her tenure began. Yeah, it was definitely the heat.
Everything hurt, from her feet to the large bruise forming on the corner of her head. She had migraines since she was little but nothing compared to the pain radiating from a concussion. It was borderline unbearable, even with her sunglasses on. Maddie wasn't even sure what city she ended up in, the languages and voices sounding muddled and unintelligible in her head. Where in the hell was she? Stumbling out of the front door, she collapsed onto the nearest bench shutting her eyes to the summer sun.
Dead phone, concussed, no clue where in the world she was? Yeah, this was the absolute worst. Maddie lit a cigarette and leaned back, waiting for her head to adjust to the bright rays and white noise. Then, if she could figure out which way was up, home.

Notes: I left it open to whatever city you want, so that practically anyone could claim it xD
