When she was younger, all she wanted was for a happily ever after. She wanted a beautiful relationship like her sister had with Teddy. Something what was perfect and that people would write stories about. She wanted to be able to tell her grandchildren about how she only loved their grandfather, how he was her first kiss and her first everything.
Unfortunately, she didn't have that. Those types of relationships were for some people, but clearly not her. She had the best friend waiting patiently for her to stop being an idiot. She had the man who picked her up when she was broken in every possible way and just held her. Seb was patient with her, he showed her what a true relationship was supposed to be like. What it was supposed to be like when the relationship was pure and the person she was with actually loved her more than he loved having sex with her. She reached over and held her husband's hand, just thinking about everything that Seb did to prove that she was good enough for the romance that he wanted to shower on her.
Their first date at the Garden Ruins in France, when he surprised her with their wedding, when they had an actual wedding in Fiji. Everything that she wanted when she was young. Not getting slapped across the face by Alex. Not getting shoved around by Lysander. Not getting screamed at or threatened by Stefan. She knew that some men worried about competing with their wives ex-boyfriends, but Seb could always rest easy that he was the only men amoung the pathetic dogs. She wouldn't have such a beautiful family with anyone else. She wouldn't be this happy, this peaceful and this safe with anyone else in the world. Her life with Renee and Seb, her family at the shop, her cousins stopping in almost every day to see her. She loved it and wouldn't change it for all of the Stefans, Alexs, and Lysanders in the world.
"Well that's because you tried to put her in spots and stripes." She teased her husband, standing up so she would be able to grab their daughter. It was surprising that Seb was allowing the little blonde out of his sight during a day off like this.
"I'll be right back." She knew that the second she brought Renee back out that Seb would steal her back and hold her close. She had never seen a father love his daughter the way that Seb loved Renee. As Niqui walked down the hall to grab her from her crib, she thought about the times when she would catch Seb talking to her stomach when he thought that she was asleep.
When he would run his hands over her swollen stomach and make promises to their child that he would do anything and everything for her.
Niqui smiled and picked up her daughter who was still in the pajamas that she put her in the night before.
"Good morning, mon petite chou!" She grinned, earning a clap and a giggle from her daughter. She walked down the hall with their little girl, put her in some tights and a pink and chocolate polkadot dress that she always loved the blonde in. Dominique gently brushed Renee's hair, putting it into pigtails to keep it out of her eyes.
"Looking very beautiful, mon petite." She asked, earning another giggle from the little girl. Niqui kissed the top of her head, knowing deep down that Renee would always be a Daddy's Girl despite her best efforts.
She walked the small girl down the hallway on her hip, smiling when she saw Renee light up. A long stream of babble came from her daugther and the little blonde girl lunged her Niqui's arms to try to get to Seb's faster.
"Traitor." Niqui teased, holding her out for Seb to steal like she knew that he would.
