"She'll get the hell over it." Who could really hold a grudge for that long? Petty feuds like that were just stupid. She could hold a grudge, but usually it was for something with much more meaning. Like when one of her cousins stabbed her with a poison dagger because she accidentally set his bed on fire while he was napping. Harmless and all of a sudden she deserved to be stabbed. How rude.
"Wait until you get to know the rest of the family. They make me look sane." She knew that she was messed up. That she lacked all of the basic empathy and concerns for others that normal people were supposed to learn from their parents. No she learned how to kill someone without leaving evidence. They they expected her to be able to fit in with regular students at Salem. If she didn't find the Militia and meet the students who thought about homicide as much as she did? She would have been screwed completely.
"Then why should I trust you?" Because they shared the same sperm donor? She shared blood with her cousins, and they were constantly trying to kill her. Blood didn't mean too much to her at this point. Parker had just proven himself to be someone who cared for her. More than just because she was Rodolphus's daughter. More because she was proven to be a favorite. Parker just wanted to see her happy and healthy. It was strange.
She could pass for normal with all of this. The pretty girl who wanted to juggle hearts and play games with them. To see which boy would care enough for her to grab her by the shoulders, tell her to cut the crap and just love him. She didn't love either of them. She cared, sure. Cared enough to be upset if either of them were killed or maimed. Didn't mean that she wouldn't do the killing or maiming if it meant unsuring that she was able to get out of this war as safely as possible.
She laughed when he asked how they would fair with their roles as Romeo, Romeo and Juliet. Parker seemed to be forgetting that Juliet chose to kill herself when she saw that Romeo was dead in the catacombs. She woke up from her zombie like sleep, saw that Romeo was dead and tried to join him. Memari wasn't that invested in either of them. At least not yet and she hoped that it never got to a point where she loved them more than she loved herself. That wasn't love then, it was obsession.
"By not killing myself like a stupid bitch." She rolled her eyes at the thought of anyone killing themselves over a relationship.
"That Italian kid, Damian, killed himself already this year. Let everyone worry about him and that. Take some eyes off me and the cause." She wanted to be able to fly under the radar, but still find the people who she had to.
"Apparently that was because his girlfriend broke up with him. Idiots." She drained her coffee and tossed the empty cup into a trash can, walking next to her brother so they would be able to talk without too many people hearing them. Some people seemed to get way too uptight over words like 'suicide' and 'Death Eaters'
"Does Alina know?"
