Gaspard stood thoughtlessly under the stream of water, hair matted down in front of his eyes and just enjoyed the quiet of the evening. Something about the weekends always seemed to relieve the stress that had perpetually found itself between his shoulder blades. Well, that something was obvious to him but the man tried to keep his heart from gushing whenever he looked at his pregnant love. Reaching for the soap, he quickly lathered up his hair and tried to keep the smile off of his face at that thought. When the man got out of the shower there would be his wife-to-be, sleeping in his... their... bed, as if there was no other spot she belonged. In the Frenchman's mind there was no other spot that Arianna belonged more than next to him, in the part of the bed she had claimed as her own.

Lost in these thoughts, humming softly to himself he nearly slipped and fell as an explosion replaced the silence he had previously been enjoying. Confused, he pulled back the curtain and looked at the pile of scrap wood that was previously the bathroom door with a baffled look on his face. Exploding doors, not something that typically happened but he was sure there was something in a faerie tale that included...

Arianna's pained voice pierced his mental musings and he nearly jumped out of the shower, barely having time to wrap the towel around his waist. "Are you alright? Amour, what's..." He looked at the tears on her face and realized what was going on and his heart started to pound. It was time. Reaching for the closest pair of pants, he quickly jammed his legs into them, not even sure if he took the time to close the button.

"Le sac...." Where was it? The two of them had packed her bag days ago, but in his frazzled state Gaspard hadn't a clue where it was. "Où est le sac?" He doubted he made any sense but continued looking. He felt completely useless and didn't have a clue on what to do or what he was even attempted to do at the moment.

Arianna's voice cut through the panicked buzz that was his thoughts. Right. Bag. He quickly grabbed it from it's spot and forced himself to calm down. This was absolutely not the time to lose it, there were bigger things to worry about. Like the fact that their daughter would be here by the time morning arrived. Gaspard couldn't wrap his head around it but knew he didn't have the time to contemplate the feeling. "I'm here." Hooking her arm over his shoulder, he reached for his wand on the side table. "Impatient, already taking after her mother."

With a slight smile he quickly apparated the two of them to St. Mungo's, into the crowded lobby. Dear heavens, everyone GO HOME can't they see that his wife was going to have a baby? What was the protocol in this situation, was it like in the movies, should he just start demanding nurses? Something about screaming "the baby's coming!" seemed out of place in this place. Luckily a healer noticed her heavy breathing and came over to the couple, ushering them to a wheelchair to bring her up to the maternity ward.

"Alright, father, you stay here." The healer turned to wheel his fiancee away from him and he hadn't a clue what to say. Such antiquated techniques were surely abandoned years ago? It was, at least, in the muggle world. "Ari.." They weren't honestly expecting him to stay back. Because his legs were carrying him to wherever they were taking his love.

Gaspard rushed back over to take Ari's hand, thankful for her words. There was honestly no way he could stay away at this moment. What were they expecting him to do, sit patiently in the waiting room while his child was born in the next room? Who knows how long that could take, there are stories about women being in labor for days on end. Merlin save the healers if they thought he could be kept away for that long. "être calme , mon amour, I am here." Though what good he was doing he would be unable to figure out. He had been excited for this moment but now that it was here and being witnessed he didn't know what to think. Certainly his brain had ceased to fire.

"My daughter?" A smile played across his face as he tried to make his love as comfortable as possible in the room, pouring a glass of water for her, fluffing pillows, offering his hand when needed, anything to make her feel better. "Come now, you knew our genetics gave us no chance of an easy child." A little girl with her demeanor and his hair, nothing could possibly be more indomitable.

It was an odd realization, that after months of the two of them dreaming about what their child would be like it would be mere moments until that dream was a reality. A real baby, something made by the two of them. How was that even possible? Gaspard kissed her hand lightly and held it to his chest. "Mon amour..." His heart felt full to bursting and could barely figure out what he was trying to say but it really didn't matter much. They'd be parents soon enough.

Gaspard had never in his life felt so useless before. Truly, there was nothing he could do to make this an easier time for her past stay by her side and murmur words of encouragement and hope that nothing sharp was in the throwing vicinity. Because this was, when you get right down to it, completely his fault. He had always been so careful in the past.. not that he had that many previous sexual experiences that this would have been a problem... but Arianna had this fantastic knack of making him forget himself and now nine months later here they were, ready to welcome their little girl into the world. The Frenchman had laid up so many nights, tracing the outline of her little foot or elbow against Ari's evergrowing belly, promising everything under the stars to his little girl, everything and anything he could ever think of. She would never want for anything, he swore. He knew it was his duty and nothing could possibly stop him from fulfilling those silent vows.

And there it was, in the midst of all that chaos, that little sound that seemed to silence all previous thoughts from his head. All he could do was stare at the little creature with the pinched face and the flailing arms. His daughter. Their daughter. Gaspard brushed the hair from Ari's face as the nurse handed the bundle to his fiancee. "Mon dieu..." How perfect she was. He was not a man that had much experience with babies but surely this had to be the most magical experience, the most beautiful child. How could it not be, considering her mother?

The entire world seemed shuttered except for the two of them. Gaspard kissed Arianna's forehead and continued staring down at his daughter in slight disbelief. After everything that had happened, the improbability of the two of them, here was the living breathing proof of their love. And she was beautiful. "Oh, Arianna."
