It was one thing after another recently. Alina had to go visit her parents so she had been gone, then he was summoned to the encampment, beat by one and almost ripped apart from his father. He had to find a way to prove that he was loyal and at least get somewhere so that the man would actually listen to him. Parker just wanted to make someone proud.
So many times he sat and thought about what he was doing and why. Why go through all this and not get anywhere. The cause was it about that. Yes this thing that got so engraned in him as a child. He couldn’t turn his back on it. Sure he was being stubborn with his mother but every word she said to him when he came back with the news that his father didn’t want a word with him stung. It burned into his brain and there would be no erasing it no matter how hard he tried.
After talking to Memari the other day Parker had a plan. This kid had not only had a mission to stand against the Death Eaters but he had stomped on his little sister’s feelings. As much as Memari was acting like it was all fine he knew better. There was no way that she could come to him practically historical over confessing her love for the first time to a boy and walk away unscathed. He could bring the boy’s dead body to his father prove that he was serious. Maybe then Rodolphus would be proud and at least want to have Parker at his side as his son.
The night before he worked at the gnome as if life was normal. His ribs still ached from being broken but the pain didn’t cross his face. There was something bigger on the horizon and that was all that mattered. Once he got off it was time to start. Tracking was something that Parker always felt he was good at. A whole life of lies gave him a good clue with how people liked to live, their habits. No matter how much a person wanted to change at their core they would always show the same patterns and he knew enough about Ted through Memari and the couple of times he had spotted the boy to figure out where he would have ran off to.
It took the better part of a week to find the boy, never once did Parker’s mind stray from what he had to do. There were probably owls stacking up back at his home from Alina. They could wait. She understood Parker did this. He would make up why he was gone. She would understand. As much as Parker loved Alina he still had to detach his girlfriend from the Death Eater’s to keep her safe. This would probably disgust her. She would hate him for what he was about to do.
Parker had found Ted in his home town. The night was cold, ice and snow on the ground. There was probably something poetic about how empty the streets were. Parker had managed to sneak up on the boy. Snatch him and pull him away from anywhere that someone might catch him. Of course a fight broke out and Parker didn’t walk away without injury. His wounds from meeting with his father slowing him down but in the end Parker had done what he promised Memari he would do one day. Ted’s body was bloody as it lay there. Parker just looked down with nothing crossing his face. He didn’t feel bad, he didn’t feel accomplished.
Parker simply took a cigarette from his pocket and stuck it between his lips, lighting it and smoking about half before heaving the body over his shoulder. He made sure that there was no sign of what had happened in the abandoned lot before he aperated away with a loud snap. He ended up at his father’s door step dropping the body on the floor with a thud. “Here.” Was all he said before leaving and ending up back at his apartment where the rest of the night was spent with cigarettes and whiskey.
