Rafaele had very few big dreams. Mostly he just wanted to be stable on his own. Of course he would be more than thrilled if he got to live off his art, but realistically he didn’t know the first thing about making that happen.
There was the idea of joining his brother at Aridorn when new school year came around. Rafa wasn’t sure what he would learn there. Art was what he liked. Most magical things he was fine with but none of them spoke to him. He wasn’t fit to be a healer. Often he couldn’t remember all the charms that he had been taught. While in class rather than taking notes his quill would swirl around doodling on parchment. So he was an average student at best, not because didn’t want to learn but because his interests were elsewhere. He thought it was sad that it seemed the magical world didn’t embrace the arts as much.
Especially going to Durmstrang the purebloods, mostly those in Grimm, would snicker at him and say he was wasting time on a muggle pastime. Rafaele just let those people say what they wanted. He didn’t need the both of fighting with them because he knew that at least he was doing something that he loved doing and not just focusing on ideals that were shoved down his throat by his parents.
Rafaele watched the glasses get refilled. This already was beyond what he drank on a normal basis. The Ruhig common area was a host to parties, kids tripping over themselves because of the firewhiskey they guzzled. When that happened Rafaele kept to himself, rather the opposite of how his brother always acted.
It would be fine just to have a second drink. It wasn’t like he was going to go back to Norway and start throwing back bottles. He took up the second glass carefull and raise it in a cheers quickly tipping it back. Rafa sucked in some air sure that he was not about to enjoy drinking as much as everyone else did. It warmed his stomach in a way that was foreign and his cheeks began to tingle. How did people get used to this, and he had only two shots.
His cheeks turned a light shade of pink a little embarrassed that he hadn’t had the chance to actually see the greats in person. “Ah no…” He never had the money to even enter the building let alone walk down it’s halls. “It’s on my list of things to see, and even if this is as far as I get in my life it’s still breath taking.”
“Yeah,” Rafa laughed gently. “Let’s not get me deported, that would be an awful way to end otherwise one of the most exciting nights I’ve had.” For some people it might have seemed like he lead a dull life, but never had Rafaele thought he would ever sneak into the Louvre, let alone with a girl he had only just met.
