Ari hated all of this. She wasn't used to the glitz and the glamour of Gaspard's world and as much as she wanted to stand proudly by his side during all of this, she wanted more to just put on some comfortable pants and curl up with the love of her life and their daughter. Even being away from Daisy felt like a piece of her was missing. She could barely stand when Gaspard would mind her while she was in class, being an entire ocean away from her little girl was close to torture. Ari took a moment to break from trying to squeeze her post pregnancy body into the golden bodice and clicked the proper buttons on her phone. A quick call wouldn't hurt anyone. Her mother insisted that the couple had nothing to worry about, that Daisy would be fine without her parents for a few days. Ari knew that her mother was wonderful, that she was the best mother known to the world, but it didn't settle how she felt. She wanted to be there with Daisy in the middle of the night when she was hungry or wet. She never thought that she would be the maternal type, but she loved it. She couldn't imagine a life without the little girl or without her husband to be.
Eve answered quickly, insisting that Daisy was fine, that Ari had nothing to worry about. Though it did very little to settle the pit in her stomach. She had never met the Chavalier's before, other than Gaspard's sister Rebekah. The almost too fabulous woman who interrupted their almost first time together. Ari tucked her cellphone back away, after several promises to her mother that she wouldn't be calling again. All promises that she fully intended to break by the end of the night. After exhaling and glancing at herself in the mirror, she knew that she looked silly. Apparently the New Year's party with the Chavalier's was a formal affair. Rebekah insisted on taking her shopping through Paris, all while gushing over pictures of Daisy and quizzing her on what she was supposed to do and when.
Clearly Rebekah had high hopes for her.
Ari did not.
With a final tug on the laces, Ari took in a few more deep breaths and stepped into the golden shoes. There was a very good chance that Gaspard's family could turn on him because of her. That they could eventually hate him because of her and their family together. She knew that he would always pick her and Daisy over them any day of the week, but that didn't mean she wanted to make him pick. She loved him too much to allow him to do that. Bracing herself her all of the judgement and hatred for being only sixteen, she walked down the halls of the Chavalier mansion, attempting to find where she was supposed to be.
