The French Nationals were up fifty points, and Niqui was sure it was from their best beater sitting on the sidelines next to her. If Seb had been in the game, he would have been destroying the competition and ensure that there was no bludger anywhere near his team. Niqui held his hand, grateful that he was sitting with her. Her stomach was huge and was making her lower back throb with pain from the uncomfortable seats. Even with all of the discomfort, she needed to get away from their apartment. Otherwise she would have been staring at their light yellow walls and counting the moments past since she was supposed to give birth.
This baby was proving to be as stubborn as his or her father, and refused to just leave Niqui’s belly. Niqui squeezed Seb’s hand and kissed him softly, leaning her head on his shoulder. It had been an amazing afternoon between them, and she was excited to have that time with him. Right as the second half of the game was about to start, Niqui felt a sharp pain go through her lower stomach. She let go of Seb’s hand and reached around her stomach, holding the round belly.
“Seb!” She could only get his name out before she felt her water break all over her shoes.
That was hours ago, now, Niqui was writhing in pain in the white bed at St. Mungo’s, having too many flashbacks to the beds in the Hospital Wing at Hogwarts. All of those times when she would end up in the Hospital Wing with absolute agony from broken bones or a miscarriage was nothing compared to the pain in her lower back and lower stomach from the pain of birth.
Niqui leaned back on the pillows and looked over at her husband, attempting to give him some idea that she wasn’t in that much pain and held her hand out for him, wanting his fingers laced with his.
“He’s going to be here soon, are you ready?”
Even with being a week late, they still had no idea what the sex of the baby was. Niqui wanted to be surprised when they placed the baby in her arms for the first time. When she would look at her baby and know that he or she was actually and completely hers and Seb’s without any future complications. Every time she changed into a werewolf, they worried about the baby. When she would change back, they would rush to St Mungo’s to check on the baby and make sure he was fine. There were a few times when she had mild cramping, or even some bleeding, but nothing to worry about.
“Is it okay that I’m scared?”
