She could remember taking her potion, grimacing at the awful taste. She could remember entering into the Shack with all of the other werewolves who populated the school. She could even remember the agonizing pain as it scorched through her entire body, as her muscles ripped and rebuilt, her bones snapped and twisted together into its new form. Billie remembered leaving the cramped Shack to explore the forest, a common thing for the wolves. It felt better to be able to run around in her form, work her muscles and get comfortable in her second skin. When she jumped over a fallen tree, she remembered another beast attacking her. Biting into her stomach, clawing at her form, Billie tried to fight back. Tried to do everything that she could to protect herself from the rogue wolf, but the elder seemed to be stronger and obviously did not take the wolfsbane potion.
Being half wolf, she only changed every once in a while, usually about every other month. She considered herself lucky. As she laid in a pool of her own blood, she knew she wasn’t. Hours passed by as she felt her body grow freezing cold. When her body turned back into her human form, she could finally see the full damage from the bites and claws of her attacker. Her stomach was nearly black with matted blood. Her face was covered in scratches, and her chest held long and deep scratch marks from her collarbone to her breast.
Billie gathered all of the strength that she could, and slowly walked out of the forest and made it to the greenhouses on the grounds before she passed out.
When she woke up, she was wrapped up in a tweed jacket that smelled like dirt. She could see Professor Deforest’s concerned face as he carried her somewhere. What was going on? Everything went black again, her stomach turning from the heavy scent of her own blood pooling on his jacket.
The second time she woke up, she knew where she was. The stark too white room hurt her sensitive eyes and her head was splitting open with pure pain. She ran her fingers through her black hair and slowly slid up on the bed and held her head in her hands, trying to make sense of everything that happened. She had been attacked by a werewolf on the full moon, what did that mean? Was she a full wolf now? Did it cancel out her sickness? She rubbed her eyes, wishing she was back in the soft colors of Hufflepuff.
