He is actually very passionate about his studies, mostly because it was the only constant in his life.[break]

He is honestly not the best with social situations. He was a nerd in school, liked watching bugs go through life cycles and learning how life worked. He was also a movie buff, so those were his nights when he was growing up. Reading books about various living organisms and soaking up what he could from them while watching movies. When going through those oh so important socially developmental stages riley was locked in his room diving into the world of the internet. in his adult life riley is reaping the disadvantages of his fairly hermit like teenage hood. Riley doesn’t know how to make friends still he tries. If he gets talking he doesn’t tend to stop any time soon. That is partly because of his stutter. it’s not that bad but rears it’s ugly head every time he talks. To cope with it he rambles. [break]

He is kind of silly even though his is book smart. The jokes he makes are more silly science puns and bad dad jokes but damn if he doesn’t think they are the funniest thing in the whole world. More than anything he does have a kind heart and wouldn’t hurt a fly. Actually the man is so jumpy at times that the it’s more likely he will hurt himself because he was startled by a fly[break]

Over all he just wants to be a good father. There are things that he doesn’t quite understand about their word and all the magic but Riley tries. Ry was raised in Pasadena California with an average pair of people whom he called his parents. At the age of five he was given to the Echo’s after being disowned by his family for being Squib. Unfortunately he was born to a family who was very proud when it came to blood. Their first three kids showed magical tendencies early on. Obviously there was something wrong with their baby and that simply was unacceptable.[break]

At first it was the sudden change that planted the unsocial seed in the boy. At a young age he found comfort in movies. As he got older it was a fascination with horror films. He would stay up all night watching them. When he was put in school he found it easy enough, latching onto biology when it was introduced.[break]

Riley found few friends, but the struggle to be social didn’t discourage him. It was more the kids that made fun of him beat down the poor boy’s confidence and made his stutter worse. Still he plowed through with less than stellar social skills and average grades. [break]

In high school he was constantly told that he had a brilliant mind and he just needed to apply himself. Riley never say the problem. He would apply himself to things he liked, sciences were what he really excelled in, and it was obvious. The other subjects he kept up in. [break]

High School was where he met Lucy. Lucy Ayna was Riley’s high school sweet heart. They would hang out hand in hand on the weekends, go to movies, the theme park all of it. He, of course, thought she was his soul mate. She didn’t quite feel the same but stayed with the boy because he was nothing but sweet and loyal to her. There was a sprinkle of infidelity on her part but Riley never caught on. They both graduated and decided to stay together. [break]

Riley ended up getting accepted to San Francisco state. Thanks to an essay on ophiocordyceps unilateralis there was also a pretty hefty scholarship involved. Collage involved a lot of studies, lab time and a job on top of it. Lucy ended up getting pregnant, luckily it was Riley’s. Eloise was born to the young couple and Riley was instantly in love with his little girl. [break]

Sadly tragedy struck in the form of a car crash, taking Lucy from the two of them when the little girl was only two. Riley struggled through his nine years of school graduating and raising his little one. The shocking part was when she started to show magical tendency’s. What was missing in Riley was now showing in Elly. [break]

As unexpected as it was for the young father he learned to embrace her gift even if he didn’t understand. Eventually Riley got a job teaching Biochemisty at a university. Through the years Riley raised Eloise by himself and working. His little girl tuned eleven and a letter was delivered to her saying that she was accepted to Salem. Riley wasn’t sure what to do. He knew that they could give her the knowledge she needed that he didn’t even know the first thing about but he didn’t want to be so far away from his little girl. So he moved with her to Massachusetts. He did find a job at the local university thankfully so he could be close to the Elly. [break]

Riley settled in Owlbrook, a nice little community just outside of where Eloise would be going to school. He met the sheriff there. She was friendly and Riley was excited to have such a nice little neighborhood to live in. It was a lovely little community. [break]

He has been working hard at work, trying to inspire young minds and also learning more and more about his daughter's world. At least once a week he would have dinner with his daughter. The weekends she could come and go home as she pleased. His house felt empty when Elly was in school. Most of the time Riley would spend his nights with horror movie marathons and grading papers. [break]

One day he did meet one of Eloise's teachers. They had a delightful conversation and she even did some magic for him. Of course Riley was fascinated he wanted to know how and why that was possible. As lonely as it sometimes was Riley and Eloise made it through her first year at Salem. He even got the new that he would get backing for research at a local facility. It would be a great break for the two of them. Even if he is nervous, Riley is more than thrilled. Something he is more worried about is the fact that his daughter will be oversees for the next year in Paris.
