This week was off to a wonderful start….not really but it could have been worse. She was breaking so many rules sneaking Nik into the castle with her. A new born vampire hidden away in her office while hundreds of students wonders the halls unaware. If Longbottom found out…she could lose her job. A job she wasn’t even sure she was cut out for. She loved her students but she just wasn’t sure if teaching was her cup of tea so to speak. She was terribly homesick and Nik has been her rock since he came back into her life. They somehow managed to fix their broken relationship and were turning a new leaf together as a couple. They confessed their deepest, darkest secrets to each other and she felt so stupid for not seeing it before. Her jealousy got the best of her but when he said that he was a vampire, those days she woke up alone in bed made sense.

But she was having a hard time adjusting to having a vampire for a boyfriend. Yesterday morning she crawled out of bed and threw open the curtains to let in some light only to hear Nik hiss obscene things behind her. When she spun around, he was lunging out of bed and trying to hide under the bed to get away from the pain…the pain she caused him. She quickly closed the curtains and bit down on her lower lip, worried how much she had hurt him. “Nik, I am so sorry” She pleaded as she kneeled down next to the bed. He had red marks across his bare chest and face and she felt horrible. She was just causing him more problems. She spent the new half hour trying to make sure that he was ok and he promised her that he was fine…but she couldn’t shake off the guilt.


She had classes all day but promised to meet with him later tonight. The entire day seemed to drag as she tried to keep herself busy with her students and her lesson plan. Once her final class was finished and the last student left, she hurried into her office to get ready for their date. It was a decent outside so she settled on a long denim skirt and a tube top, throwing on her fitted leather jacket to hide most of her exposed skin. She slipped her feet into her heels and bucked them. Once she was finished throwing herself together, she closed her eyes and suddenly appeared outside of the park. It was mostly quiet, a few people here and there. As she got closer she spotted Nik and felt herself smile. “Alo iubirea mea” She greeted him with a simple kiss on the cheek once she closed the distance between them.

Once she was by his side, she wrapped an arm around his lower back and leaned into his side, resting her head on the end of his shoulder. Suddenly all the stress and tension from the day melted away and her body went limp as she leaned into him for support. Since their first night together, she has always felt safe and secure in his arms. Now she knew why, he was a vampire…but still…it was very comforting to her even after all this time. His soft voice lingered in her ears as she closed her eyes for a brief moment. A voice that he only used around her. Everyone else got the brooding, angry Nik. It would be a lie if she said that she didn’t like it. It was a way to let her know that she was special to him.

How was your day?

His question snapped her out of her own little trance and she finally picked up her head from his shoulder, looking up at him through her dark lashes. “It wasn’t too bad. Just filled with boring lesson plans and sleeping students…I can’t blame them for sleeping…” She pursed her lips a bit and looked away from his gaze, a bit ashamed that she can’t handle this job. Back home, she was a free spirit. She could do anything she wanted whenever she wanted…. Here…she had to be hard working, responsible, and law abiding. She didn’t feel like the same person anymore and it was making her depressed. But when she was around Nik, she tried to keep light of it. She didn’t want him to see how much it was effecting her. “How was your day?” She asked, to change the attention back onto him.

She noticed that his hand was stuffed into his pocket and she knew that he was trying to hide it from her. Slowly she reached over with her free hand and pulled it out, bring it closer to her eyes. She noticed the deep scarring and felt her heart pull in her chest. A small lump started to form in the base of her throat and she let out a low sigh, bring his hand to her painted lips. She trailed soft kisses over the scar tissue and nuzzled the back of his hand against her cheek. “Imi pare rau iubirea mea” she whispered. She wondered how long it would take to get use to having a vampire boyfriend. “Have you…eaten today?” She asked, a bit worried. She has been offering herself to him but he always seem hesitate. Over the pass few days she as adjusted her diet to include more iron so that she wouldn’t feel as lightheaded at the end of it but it wasn’t much help.

It was remarkable that this feeling she had whenever she was around Nik was real. It was calming yet exciting. She sometimes caught herself tracing her hand over his chest just to make sure that he was real and there with her. His body was taunt and solid under her palm, causing her to smile knowing that he was real. And that he was hers. It might be her inner feline but she was rather territorial when it came to her man. Even back in Romania. She noticed all the looks that Nik got from other girls whenever they were out, but he never seemed to pay them any attention. She tried not to let it go to her head but there would be a few times she would shoot those girls a ‘Yeah, he is mine…’ look with a challenging eyebrow arch. She started to lose confidence in herself when he started to disappear in the middle of the night but now she knew the truth. Her confidence was back and her trust for the man intact.

“You should start throwing books at the kids who sleep in your class,”

A light smile pulled at the corner of her lip as she rest her head back on his shoulder. “I could never do that. I love my students and MOST of them are good kids. Most.” She grinned. The arm she had wrapped around his lower back relaxed and she hooked her thumb into his belt loop on his hip. “Not to mention I might lose my job and have a mob of angry parents storming the castle.” She giggles, tilting her head back to look up at him. Her fingertips slowly starting to snake under the hem of his shirt, barely tracing over his skin.

“It’s fine Angel,You won’t be able to tell it was there by tomorrow.”

She knew that he was right. Vampire were able to heal through most wounds but it didn’t stop the guilt. But she tried to put on a straight face for him. She nodded her head and gave his hand one more kiss before placing his hand on her chest, over her heart. “I love you Nik…Ai inima și sufletul meu” She spoke the truth. When she ran off and he wasn’t there, she wasn’t herself. She missed him like crazy. She felt complete with him.

“Only the small bit that you let me have before you had to get back to work.”

She looked up at him and knew he must be hungry. She loved that he was trying to control his feedings until she could figure out a plan but she knew he could only handle so much. She quickly looked around and saw that they were alone for the time being. She removed herself from around him long enough to shrug off her jacket and dropped it on the ground. “Take what you need…” She said while pulling her long hair away from her neck. She exposed her neck to him and closed her eyes, waiting for the feeling of his sharp fangs piercing her neck.

“If a mob came after you they would have to deal with an angry vampire boyfriend. It would be their kids fault for being lazy in class,”

Angel took a second to picture it all in her head and giggled. She could easily believed that Nik could handle a hundred plus people single handed if he had too. They wouldn’t stand a chance against her man but she hoped it would never have to happen. She didn’t want Nik putting himself in harms way. Those few months away from each other was bad enough…if anything happened to him….just from the thought she felt her eyes tear up a bit and a small lump form in the middle of her throat. Suddenly her arms tightened around his torso and she buried her face into the curve of his neck. Her mind started to drift into the thought of their future together.

He was a young vampire…preparing for his eternal life and she was a witch. She does have a longer lifeline than most muggles but that doesn’t mean she wont age or eventually die. What will he do? Find another lover? The thought saddened her even more. She wasn’t sure what to do. Could she change just to be with the one she loved. She doesn’t know the first thing about being a vampire. And the blood thirst…what if she couldn’t control herself and ends up killing someone. She felt a strong shiver pass through her body and was glad that Nik was still holding her, her knees turning to jello.

“I love you too Angel….u vas takzhe yest' rudnik,…Even if my heart doesn’t beat like yours.”

She felt his cold hand touch her cheek and instantly nuzzled into his palm. Her eyes slowly closing as she felt her stomach twist into knots. She kept her eyes closed as she felt him moving closer, his breath brushing against her skin, causing small goosebumps. His tender kiss sent another shiver through her. Then there was a sharp pain of his fangs sinking deep into her neck, feeling her blood spilling out into his mouth. The feeling was indescribable. It made ever nerve in her body hum. Then she started to feel lightheaded. Normally she would warn him when she was feeling it but she couldn’t find her voice. She was lost in the feeling of it all. Her fingers gripped tightly to his shirt as her body leaned into him. A soft moan hummed in the base of her throat as her eyes flickered, threatening to roll back into head. She felt weak. She opened her mouth to tell him to stop but nothing came out. She was so weak that she couldn’t even panic…instead she just drifted into the darkness.

Everything went still around. She was blanketed in a cozy darkness and felt at peace. A peace that was felt odd to her. The more she stay there, the more she didn’t like it. It wasn’t normal and she felt very lonely. Her mind struggled to remember what she was doing and how she got here. Where was here anyways? She tried harder and harder to think but everything came up blank. She felt the urge to panic but her body felt heavy. She couldn’t even breath. Her mind filled with unanswered questions and felt herself slipping further and further away.

“Angel….”

A voice echoed in the distance. That name. It was her name…she remembered that it was her name. But who was calling her? Her name was called again and it sounded like it was closer now. It was clearer and that voice was so familiar. Her eyes flickered under her eyelids as she struggled to remember. Suddenly she heard Russian. How did she know it was Russian? Her gut was telling her and she had to trust it. Why would they speak in Russian? Suddenly everything came rushing back to her. All the memories of her life.

“N…Nik?”

Her voice was so weak it came out as a whisper as she laid there on the ground. She still fought to open her eyes but they remand closed . “Wh…what’s going on?” Her voice growing softer as she heard Nik panicking. Something was wrong. She was letting him feed from her…oh no…she couldn’t stop him in time and now she was slowly dying. Her lung burned inside of her chest as her heart slows to a stop. Suddenly she felt something warm and wet against her lips and heard her love. He was telling her to drink. She didn’t have time to think. She reacted by closing her lips around it and felt it pouring into her mouth.

She gulp it down until the peace was shattered like a glass window. Her body twisting up on the ground as a scream filled the night sky. It felt like there was a wild fire roaring underneath her skin. Her fingertips raking along the ground as she tried to crawl away from the pain. Her body twitched violently and she had to force herself to bite down on her lower lip to stop herself from screaming. Suddenly she felt her canines grow into sharp points and it pierced her lip, causing more blood to stain her pale skin. The pain was too much and she collapsed onto the ground. “NIK?!” She cried out for her lover and soon the pain dulled. Finally she opened her eyes and everything seemed sharper. She could make out the little droplets of dew on the blades of grass.

Angel laid there on the damp grass, gasping for air she no longer needed. Her mind searching for an explanation for had just happened, and it slowly became clear. She was now a creature of the night…just like her boyfriend. It wasn’t planned. If Nik didn’t change her, she would have been dead by now. It would have been all her fault, she was careless this time. She didn’t stop him like she normally did. She was lost in the strange sensation what was him feeding from her. It was a bonding moment that they shared together. Sure it was painful at first but once your body goes numb…its wonderful. It was like a drug and she had overdosed.

She felt the ends of her hair tickle the side of her face and neck, causing her to open her eyes. Everything seemed so different now. She could make out everything in vivid detail, where as before she had to squint and use light to determine what it was she was looking at. Her dark eyes quickly moving over to see Nik kneeling down beside her. He was still as handsome as ever. She reached out with a shaky hand and slowly brushed her fingertips over the side of his face. “I thought I lost you forever” She whispered, her throat raw from screaming.

“Angel…..I… Vy ne ostavil menya (you didn’t leave me),

She felt his solid arms wrap around her torso and hug her close to him. She suddenly found her strength when she went to wrap her own arms around him. Without realizing, she ended up giving him a bear hug. Her fingernails digging through the fabric of his shirt as she held him close, never wanting to let him go in fear she would be lost again.

“Mne ochen' zhal'(I’m so sorry)”

She could hear the sorrow in his tone when he apologized. She slowly released him from the embrace and sat back on her heels, looking up into his dark eyes. “Vă rugăm să don’t (please don’t)” She said in a weak voice, her fingertips trailing lightly over his cheek bone and down his cheek. “Thank you for saving me…” She said with a genuine smile.

The sound of footsteps caught her attention, causing her head to snap in the direction they were coming from. People from the park heard her scream and were coming to see what was going. With a quick blur of motion, she was on her feet…looking panicked. “Nik, we need to get out of here….take me somewhere…anywhere just not here…” She pleaded, fearing seeing other people at the moment. She wasn’t sure how she would react now that she was a vampire. She could actually smell the worry and fear in the air as they got closer. “Nik…” Her lip twitched as a new hungry started to grow in her throat, feeling her fangs pressing in the back of her lips.

“I couldn’t let you go,”

Her eyes danced along the length of his face. He had given her the reason why he turned her. Despite everything she had put him through, he still loved her. It brought a smile to her face as tears threatened to slip over her lids. Their love was strange but powerful. “E în regulă. (It’s alright) its just going to take some time to get use to all of this change.” As soon as the words left her mouth ,she heard the people starting to approach them from across the park.

It surprised her how fast she moved when she panicked. It felt so natural to her but inside she had a mini freak out. Her throat burned and this time it wasn’t from the screaming. She tried to shallow air in hopes it would help but the closer the crowd got, the more uncomfortable it was. It caused her head to spin. She had the primal urge to rush at the people. Something inside wanted her to tear them apart. It terrified her. Was this what Nik had to deal with all the time?

She was struggling to keep herself still when she felt a hand grab at her wrist. Nik had tugged her away from the crowd and out of the park. She tried to keep up but her form fitting skirt was restricting her movement. Suddenly she was pulled into a alley and rested against the brick wall, her hand now laced with Niks. His eyes intently starting at her.

“You need to feed,”

Her eyes shook with fear as the words left his mouth. She didn’t want to hurt anyone. But her bloodlust was greater than her fears. Her body slide down the wall until she sat on the ground, all her energy was now gone. All that crap she gave Nik about feedings, she never could have imagined the torture he was going through every night. She felt so stupid. Hot tears started to roll down her now cold cheeks as she fought with her guilt.


“Now. Do you know of a substitute or are you okay with me finding you someone?”

Angel shook her head in defeat. She hasn’t been about to find anything else besides animals to substitute for blood. Her body shook from the pain of hunger as she stared up at him. “Please, help me….” She whispered, her voice still raw. “Anything, anything that will make this stop.” She pleaded
