MY HEART HAS LOST IT'S WIND NOW.
Out of everything that could have possibly happened - all the recent discoveries and development that he'd gone through, this had to happen now. When he was most vulnerable. When he needed her most, her sweet smile and her guidance and her lovely words sweet as honey. His mother was dead. Attacked in her own home by a mystery muggle unknown to the authorities unfound and long gone. Upset was an understatement. He'd received the message by owl, a local wizard telling him the sad news with his condolences. He hadn't spoken for days, corresponding with the wizard funeral plans, locking himself in his dorm room and not speaking to anyone. He was excused from his classes, not that anyone noticed he was gone. He spoke neither to Shea nor Bobby, not willing to see anyone yet remaining with dry eyes. He was in shock, and the pain in his heart was so great that it quickly became cold and numb. It was only after the date for the funeral service was set that he simply left the campus, and sent Bobby and Shea formal invitations to attend the funeral. The weather reflected his sorrow, the next few weeks were gray and stormy.
The day of the funeral came, and Ellis was immaculate. Perfectly tucked in and neat - very much unlike himself - he stood outside the church where the procession was to be held. He was cold, not wearing a jacket and merely a thin dress shirt, raindrops slowly dripping from the heavy clouds. He could feel the pressure beginning to build behind his eyes, the numbing effect of the shock dissipating and allowing the true horror of the situation shake him to his core. He was alone now, having no family to turn to. He would live in a cold and empty house - he'd actually probably lose the house being unable to pay for it himself. He didn't know where he would go, where he would stay, or how he would live. Raising a hand to his face he dug the heel of his palm in his eye, and his lip began to tremble. Tears slowly worked their way from his eyes, and slowly it became easier and easier to cry. Releasing all of the pent up misery and pain, he began to sob.
