Germany was so much more than he ever thought it would be. There was so much to see and do and he wanted to experience it all. Krist hated that as long as he was staying with Max and his family, they would have to pretend like they weren't together. He never thought that he would be happy with someone in the closet, but he could never fault Max for it. Trying to tell parents something like that was painful and it could easily go horribly. It was all added knowing that Max's parents were in the public eye. If Max wanted to kiss Krist in public, it would come with a swarm of photographers and journalists.
Instead, Krist decided to give Max the day to do his duties around the embassy. All of the photo opportunities and the rubber chicken dinners, and he would explore on his own. He promised his mother that he wouldn't be too much of a bother with the family while he was away, so he tried to make himself scarce while Max was busy with something else. Sure they would be able to make up for the lost time later, but he wanted to try to do some of the tourist things without Max pulling him into an alcove.
Not that he was complaining of course.
Kristofor walked down the street, looking at all of the buildings. There were so many things that he wanted to do, but all of them were escaping his head. He couldn't think of a single place that he insisted would be educational. Honestly all that was coming to mind was how hungry he was and how much wanted to get a cup of coffee and a sandwich. The Croatian boy stopped in front of a small cafe and looked over the outside signs, even though they were written in German, he was pretty sure that he was going to be able to get some food there and wouldn't accidentally end up in some underground dog fighting club.
He sat down at an outside table, thanked the waitress in his shakiest German and looked over the menu for something appealing.
