The summer would have been a great time to go back home. Riley missed the beach. He missed his parents. Ry was also sure that Eloise missed those things too. His money had gone to the house they now lived in. It was a lovely little town with nice people. He wanted to be able to give his little girl everything. Riley was constantly trying to make sure she was happy and comfortable. It was the least he could do. Eloise was a gift. The best thing he had in this world.
School was almost torture for Riley. Elly was off at the school, he wanted to speak with the head master about having Eloise be able to live with him, the town was just on the outskirts of Hawthorne village, not too far. His little girl was excited to be in a dorm, and have a roommate though. He didn’t even have to ask her he could see it as she babbled away about it when they were picking out all her supplies.
It was what his daughter needed. Riley knew that. She would miss out n so much if she had to come home to her non magical father every night. Deep down he knew that she would be fine, and she would flourish in the community that she was a part of. It was just hard for him to see his little girl grow up.
The weeks were lonely in the house. He would come home from lecturing about his science and turn on the tv, put in a movie and grade. Most of the time that grading was coupled with ice cream. Horror movies and cookies and cream ice cream. It was a Wednesday night thing he used to do with Eloise. He chose that day because he figured it was something to look forward to in the middle of the week. To get over the hump as it were.
She was back home now. They had the same schedule with him being a professor at a collage. That was one of the things he was thankful for. At first that was not what Riley was going for when he got his phd. He fell into the job, with obviously not being the best public speaker, but his knowledge seemed to speak for itself. There was no other job he could think of having now, if only so he could keep his weekends and summers with his daughter.
“Eloise h-h-honey, you want breakfast?” Riley knocked gently on her bedroom door. She should get to sleep in, but at the same time the summer was winding down, and before he knew it his little girl would be back at school and he would be back to teaching budding young scientists and coming home to an empty house again.

[notes: suprise?? um anyway i figure we can actually make this when she finds out more about her mom. Like maybe she found her diary when she was going through stuff in the attic trying to find something and stumbles across a box of her stuff the night before maybe?]
