Niels walked through the halls of the school, his school. This would be the test, the first real year that he was the new Headmaster of Durmstrang. The was more intimidating than any Qudditch game he had ever played. He thought about his years playing. What his life had been like in Egypt. That woman that would always be in the back of his mind. His son that would haunt him.
Durmstrang was a new chapter. It was a chance to redeem all the bad choices he had made, possibly. He nodded at the students and teachers that past by him. Niels had no doubt that being a headmaster would be hard. Especially with the changes that he had every intention of making to the castle. The biggest thing would be the acceptance of muggle born children.
The man had gone to the school back when there were no exceptions. Durmstrang was strict it was pure and it was strong. Niels wasn’t sure that it was always an opinion or if it was an opinion that came about after various events in his life.
A child was a child and every one deserved a place that was a safe. He could have only wished for a place like that for Leif. A lot was unsaid when it came to his son. Honestly he had and would always blame himself for it. A lot of that fueled his diction making. Though running a whole school was not something he knew how he was going to pull off. His position was pulling at something a whole lot more sympathetic than anything else had.
Niels walked out of the door and made his way down to the lake. There he stopped looking down at the icy waters. It had been a good while sense he had been to that lake. Even in the years before when he was just a teacher Niels avoied the lake. For the longest time he couldn’t figure out why.
As he stood there the reason hit him in the face. The last time he had seen Leif alive. They took a trip to the lake near the home. There he was helping his son get used to the animagus form that they had both shared. The Eurasian Lynx was innate in both of them. It was one of the best thing he could ever hope to share with his only child. Apparently that was not enough.
