Jamie felt as if he had a cold coming on. There was a tickle in his throat that didn’t quite go away no matter how many times he had cleared his throat. He really hoped that he wasn’t getting sick. They had just started up the new quidditch season and he needed to be in top shape if they were planning to win this year.
The back and forth was tiring but Jamie couldn’t say he hated it. It was more the switching between summer and winter that was annoying. It could also be a contribution to this delightful cold that Jamie was praying was not actually a cold.
Despite the fact that if he actually was getting sick he should just stay at home and rest he was out walking along the sidewalks. The sun was up and shining and he would have just gone stir crazy in his dorm. It was his day off. The team had a by-week and he was caught up on class assignments. A lot of his team mates liked to tell him that he was crazy for being in school while playing. Why waist the time and sleep when he already had a career? Jamie knew better than to put all his eggs in the quidditch basket. He had seen enough players over the years get bad enough injuries that shut down their ability to play. This way he would at least have a chance for a life beyond the game.
He had no idea how to spend his day though and the tickle in his throat was not helping. Maybe some tea would help. Jamie turned on his heel and pushed open the door to the Flaming Dragon. For a Sunday afternoon it didn’t seem that full. People were probably busy desperately trying to finished assignments that were left for the last minute. Or enjoying time with family and friends. Unfortunately his choices to join up with the Tornados had his friend list pretty low. Then the choice to go to Aridorn had his family not at his side. There was Izzy but she didn’t know. It hurt not to call her sister. But that was life.
Jamie walked up to the counter and waved hello to the girl behind the register. “Ginger tea,” He ordered and passed over the money. Once Jamie was given his cup he found a small table near a window to sit at. At least it was nice out, even if he did find himself lonely.
