Eloise strolled along the crowded streets of Merlin Court, her chin high and her steps sure. Her left arm dipped under the weight of heavy shopping bags, but her purse was still heavy with her brother’s coin. What better way to beat the stress of exams than to put it all off with a much needed shopping trip? Naturally, she had sent her mother a heartfelt, tear stained letter outline how hard she had been working and just how stressed she had been with the pressure of exams. Instead of the caring response from her mother with the money she had been scheming for, she opened the letter to find her older brother’s tight script. He had made it abundantly clear that it was their mother who had sent the money, but Eloise’s failure would be met with great consequences. To ensure that her brother would be appeased, she had sent a few coins aside for “thoughtful” gifts that would ensure her success on exams. Eloise had never been the studying type, however, the Doux boys were often quite studious and always eager to help. Several of her dear little “friends” would be falling over themselves to help her out when she bestowed her gifts upon them. Of course, her presence should have been gift enough, but bribery solidified things dealings more quickly. Eloise did not want to waste time with flirtation and flattery.
Sidestepping a herd of screaming children, Eloise wrinkled her nose at the commotion, pulling the bags from bumping the tops of their heads and scowling at the apparent owner of the little beasts. She rolled her eyes and adjusted the bags on her arms, frowning at the bands they left against her skin. Setting her belongings down on a bench, Eloise rubbed her arm vigorously, causing her purse to jingle happily with the sounds of wealth. Her eyes scanned the shops for something that would catch her attention. If her brother was going to threaten her, than she was certainly going to make her shopping trip well worth it. Bouncing her purse, Eloise smiled as her eyes settled on Quidditch Forever.
“Bonjour,” she greeted the shopkeeper cheerily as she stepped into the cluttered shop that she loved so dearly. The man smiled at her before turning his attention back to the display he was creating. Immediately, she proceeded to the wall of jerseys that always caught her attention, one day she would have a professional one of her very own. Running her fingers through the racks gently, Eloise pulled a green jersey from the hanger and held it against her frame. “Pfft...Ireland,” she scoffed with an amused shake of her head before shoving the jersey back into the rack roughly.
