If one word had to be chosen to describe Cin, it would be crazy. The man is the perfect replacement for Trelawney when it comes to eccentricity, though he’s not as prone to predicting death for his students. Cin hates Wizarding robes and tends to strut – yes, he actually struts – about in dark two-piece suits or a band T-shirt and jeans, the latter of which tends to involve bare feet. Why? Well, why not?
And “Why not?” is Cin’s life philosophy. This leads to him doing some pretty reckless and stupid things, like walking through the Forbidden Forest at night and muttering to the spiders in the halls when the students are changing classes. Cin will randomly dance in said halls, be they full of life or empty. In the Great Hall, he likes to sit next to the most dour of Professors and chew with his mouth open, or regale them with anecdotes of his life full of grand gesticulation and inappropriate vocal volume. There are times where he will jump up in the middle of a story (in the middle of the Staff table) and reenact a fight scene with his fork and the poor soul next to him.
In class, he does not really calm down. He jumps from table to table and he likes to shout and sing. However, he still manages to get his lessons across quite well and it is rather difficult to forget a lesson when your teacher spent the entire time hanging from a rafter and giving the directions speaking normally… then speaking backwards.
Not to say he cannot be serious should it come to that, but for the most part… Cin just sort of does whatever he wants, whenever he wants, and no one’s opinion really matters.

Father: Aodh Lauchlann, deceased
Mother: Fionnaghal Lauchlann née NicMurchadh, deceased
Siblings: None
Others: None
Birth Place: Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire, Scotland
Current Residence: Hogwarts; returns to Kirkintilloch during the summer
Overall History:
Cin was born to a poor Scottish couple, Aodh and Fionnaghal, in a small, somewhat run-down home at the edge of Kirkintilloch. Due to a lack of proper nutrition during the pregnancy, Cin was born rather small and sickly. Despite this, his parents were happy and all memories he has of them were happy ones. He remained a sickly child, often falling prey to colds and the flu and whooping cough, up until the age of eight, when his immune system finally strengthened. It was after his health took a much needed turn for the better that Cin’s personality began to really shine through and his parents were never sure, exactly, how to handle him.
He would be sent home from primary school because he was unable to sit still and would sing and shout and do many things he still does today. The teachers often wanted to forget all about him, but when he was able to sit still and quiet enough to take a test, his marks were exceptionally high. Cin was years ahead of the other children in his class and at the same time, showing strange signs in his own home.
Cin had been having bursts of accidental magic since he was four, but had managed to hide it well over the years. His parents, however, found out when he was ten, one year before he received his letter from Hogwarts. That had certainly been quite the experience. Cin had decided the school roof looked like quite the fun place to be, despite it being a three-story building, and managed to slip right off when he was dancing to mock his parents. Needless to say, his parents were beyond shocked when instead of slamming into the ground, Cin just floated right on down and landed on his feet without so much as a hair out of place.
So, when the time came, Cin was shipped off to Hogwarts, where he was sorted into Hufflepuff and spent his years making his Professors’ lives extremely… erm… interesting.
During his years at Hogwarts, Cin discovered he had an affinity for Divination. Fitting, perhaps, given his personality and that of his Professor, Trelawney. Seemed to be an area of expertise meant for the crazy and Cin had plenty of that going for him. So, in Seventh Year, he spoke to Trelawney and managed to secure himself an apprenticeship.
Cin then spent most of his time in Hogwarts with his old Professor, learning more about Divination than he ever could have in a few years of classes. During the summer months, he would return to Kirkintilloch to practice on his own and be near his family home, the gravestones of his parents in a cemetery nearby. Both had died in a car accident when Cin was nineteen, away from home working on his apprenticeship, and the old house had been given to him. Even now, he cannot find it within himself to give up that little run-down hovel.
Around the age of 38, only a few years ago, Trelawney retired and Cin was given the position of Divination Professor. And so, there he has remained, teaching children the wonder of prediction and causing all sorts of problems.
