Character Age: 16
School: Salem
House: Paomet
Job/Year: sixth year
Wand: Silver Lime, pheonix feather, 13", surprisingly springy. "It's beautiful: A light wash with a tint of green underneath. The wand maker said it was a true vintage (something about these trees being severely cut down in the 19th century and the wands being temperamental), how appropriate!"
Gender: female
Sexuality: "It flows like wind. Mostly depends on how bored I am, but either gender can get me going."

Hair Shade: "Do you know what they call my natural hair color? DISHWATER BLONDE! Completely unacceptable: so it is highlighted and low lighted to a light blonde mass of perfection."
Hair Style: Wavy (ala flapper girl) and a little shorter than shoulder length with bangs that can be either straight or side-swept.
Eye Color: "Grey. Not too exciting. Sort of goes with the "ghostly pale, never-been-in-the-sun" thing I have going on most of the time. I've been told my eyes are the color of glass? But most of the time it's sort of a translucent blue."
Build: Painfully emaciated. "If I hear someone yell 'eat a sandwich' one more time I will hex them back to the stone age. No joke, I'm over it. I am the standard runway size zero. A designer's dream."
Dressing Style: A fashion snob. With an extensive trust fund to burn and New York High Society to impress, one would be amazed at how much money a single girl could spend on clothes. From Sunday shopping trips at Chanel to frequenting the Haute Couture runway shows all over the world, she holds fashion as the high art of her life.
"How could I not take fashion seriously when my great-great grandfather founded Vogue magazine? I like color and atypical structure. Think the 2013 Dior line. So chic, so luxurious. And to think that it was all inspired by birds! But I'm getting ahead of myself. Back to me. I strictly wear dresses: I do not like pants, I do not look good in pants, I do not wear pants. I love fit and flare dresses, with bright, exotic prints. Very feminine cuts, I'm definitely inspired by the 1950's and 1960's designers, with lots of hats and gloves. I've been to enough teas and luncheons and brunches to know the necessity of a good hat. AND SHOES, I nearly forgot about shoes! In a nutshell, I like to combine trends. I like to pair a very feminine, flowy dress with leather boots. Or maxi skirts with vintage tees. Colorblocking, atypical hemlines, materials, and structures. I honestly could talk about this for hours, but my clothes are very important to me. I like to look girly and fabulous and effortlessly chic, is that too much to ask?"

Likes: Fashion magazines, good whiskey, historical fiction books, all-you-can-drink brunches, french cigarettes, Oscar De La Renta gowns, singing jazz songs, Alexander McQueen tailoring, Dior Haute Couture, drawing everyone's eye as she walks down the street, a well mixed cocktail, shopping, ballroom dancing, 19th century literature, parties, and romance,
Dislikes: Unflattering clothes, early mornings, rough-housing, vulgar language, polyester (shudder), getting dirty or muddy, breaking a shoe, breaking a nail, breaking anything, loud noises, athletics
Strengths:
Seamstress: Before Madeleine found out she was a witch, she was on the path of becoming a designer. She wanted to be the next "big thing:" the next designer to change the face of fashion.
"I spent years studying to be a designer, plus sewing is one of the most helpful skills you can hone. Ate too many fries? Bad breakup and lost ten pounds? Hemlines are higher this season? Plus vintage patterns are just beautiful, so after a while I just started creating my own."
Charming: After years of going through charm classes and debutante balls, Maddie definitely knows how to charm those around her. Years of getting teachers to bend the rules, years of manipulating older students to accept her, and younger students to attend her has absolutely cemented that all a girl needs is a bright mind and a brighter smile.
Manipulative: "What is charm but a type of manipulation? Of COURSE I'm manipulative. What East Side Princess isn't?"
Romanic: "Alright, so I was bit by the Jane Austen bug as a child. I always dream of a better world, a more romantic world, a more courteous world and sometimes it bites me in the ass later, but I consider it a strength. I see the potential in every situation I am in versus just seeing the ending."
Bright: "I am incredibly well-read. I always pulled 4.0's my entire school career and I am always involved in as many clubs and committees as I can be. Being still is being bored, and being bored is likely to death as I can imagine."
Spontaneous and playful: "Look, I'm not very good at sitting still. I never have been, never will be. Why spend a day inside when you can just decide to take a trip downtown, or decide to climb trees all day?"
Weaknesses:
Snob: "Yes, it's true. Not surprising, but definitely true. I have been spent my entire life with the idle rich, there's no way around it. I'm definitely a snob. I try to curb it; it doesn't help."
a slave to appearances: With fashion a major part of her life and growing up in a world where "appearance is everything," she holds her appearance to the highest of standards. She feels the need to be immaculate every time she steps out of her immaculately organized room. Maddie spends hours perfecting any flaws she finds until she is sure that it is corrected.
Control freak: "Any problem that money can solve can be solved by the mind. It's that simple. I refuse to allow the stray hems of the world dictate what I can and cannot do."
manipulative: While Maddie would only consider this a strength, her ability and affinity towards manipulation has gotten her into trouble many times in the past.
Eating problems: Like many girls of her status, Maddie has struggled with food in the past. While not a consistent problem as she is naturally slim, she'll go through bouts of strictness and reduction to the point of unhealthy.
"It's honestly not even close to a problem. I have never fainted, I have never had any health problems from it and honestly: have you ever seen a fat society girl? I didn't think so."
Commitment Issues: Having seen how unhappily married her parents are over the years has sewn some deep seeded relationship issues. Maddie is a very sexually free person but the minute it seems to get too close she runs.
Overall Personality:
Maddie was raised by a Queen Bee to be a Queen Bee. She is everything you expect out of a girl of her station. She is cordial, charming, intelligent, and very well spoken. She loves fashion more than life itself, loves to read and loves to be the center of attention. She spends all of her time trying to be the perfect Upper East Side daughter. With that being instilled in her all of her life, she has insecurity issues that the she hides quite well. She never feels quite good enough; that she will never measure up to what her parents expect her to be. She, at times, has anxiety issues that often bubble up and manifest in her issues with food, but she's too clearheaded and too much of a control freak for that to ever take hold of her life. She is hyper-focused and incredibly driven and wants the best out of life, no matter what she's doing.

Father: Henry Hearst
Mother: Amelie Hearst (nee Albright)
Siblings: none.
Others: Abigail, housekeeper and childhood nanny of Madeleine. She still keeps in close contact with her, as she is her moral compass.
Birth Place: Lenox Hill on 75st in New York City
Current Residence: When not in school, she stays in her parents brownstone on 5th and 82nd. "Just a stone's throw away from the Met, the most desired real estate in the country."
Overall History: Born into a family of means, Madeleine has never had need to want for anything. She was born at the best hospital, with the best doctors, came home in a cashmere baby blanket and placed in the family's crib, passed down for six generations. Her father inherited the publishing house that her great-great-grandfather had started, and her mother was the Queen Bee of Upper East Side Society. They both loved good brandy, french cigarettes, and traveling without budgets. They quickly fell in love and started traveling the world together. After jet setting through Europe and finding out she was pregnant, the two settled down in their fabulous, inherited brownstone in the center of the universe: Manhattan.
Amelie was an adequate mom: On the colder side, but made up for it with trips to museums and the best nannies money could buy. Madeleine inherited her love of fashion, and as she got older, they developed a close bond. They never missed a show, be it in New York, Paris, or Milan.
Madeleine's father was a bit more distant, but not neglectful in the least. She always understood that her father worked hard to give her everything she loved, but to this day her father seems like a distant fairytale to her.
The situation changed when she got the acceptance letter. Her mother, always wary of anything abnormal, started turning the cold shoulder towards her only daughter. Madeleine was crushed: She was so amazed that this world existed, that she was a witch! She had magical powers, what little girl could ever ask for more? But she soon realized that what made her different made her dangerous. She was no longer like the other girls of high society; she had a secret, a damaging secret. She knew she'd have to give up her high society comfort if she wanted to commit to magic. It hurt her more than anything, but the minute she stepped on the Salem campus with her Louis Vuitton steamers in tow, she knew she had made the right decision. Besides: what designers hasn't wished for a little magic on their side? For all Maddie knows (and suspects), quite a few of the top designers have to be wizards.
Life at Salem was fun, hidden parties and enjoyable flings, even more so during the Triwizard. Maddie met Damian Vittorio and Wynter Brechin and they began a sexual relationship together. Threesomes were not something new to the girl but everything was perfect. They spent the summer in France continuing this until Maddie and Damian became monogamous and Wynter found her own girl to love. Damian surprised Maddie by transferring to Salem and the girl thought the good times would never end.
In March, Damian took his own life and Maddie's ideal world came crashing down around her. The two had broken up earlier that day, her admitting that his constant panic attacks were taking a toll on their relationship and told him she couldn't help him anymore. The guilt that went along with this was beyond measure and Maddie shut everyone out, wanting to be left alone.
