Overall Personality: Ari is a bit snarky, mainly from a defense mechanism from her years in the foster care system. She's known for being blunt and sometimes borderline bitch. Ari is usually found just in her room, with her headphones over her ears. After so many years living at Salem, she has been pseudo adopted by most of the professors. She only takes a few of them seriously and sees most of them as well paid baby sitters.

Overall History: Ari grew up on a commune in Arizona, her parents believed that their leader was an incarnation of God. They gave up their life's goals, savings, everything to dedicate to him. The man believed in children-brides in order to reproduce and please "The Lord". When Ari was eight, she was engaged to a forty-five year old man. On their wedding night, when he wanted to "consummate" the marriage. That was when Ari had her first sign of magic. She made the curtains catch on fire. He ran out of the room, with her virginity in tact. However, the highly religious zealots deemed her as a Satanist and she had to be punished.

Ari was dragged from the burning room and forced to stand trial. Her parents refused to believe her. Her community deemed her as a witch. They beat her within an inch of her life and left her on the side of the road, miles away from the commune.

Thankfully, she was found by some tourists and brought to the emergency room. The couple, Evangeline Redwood and her husband tried to adopt the little girl who they fell in love with. When they were going through the background check to gain custody of the little girl, a false domestic violence report from Mr Redwood's first wife made them unable to adopt her. In honor of the couple who saved her life, Ari took the last name Redwood, since she didn't know her own.

After that, she spent three years bouncing around foster homes. Right when she would get comfortable somewhere, something weird would happen. Fires would start in the middle of the night. Things would move around without her touching it. Just... weird things. Some of the homes were wonderful, some of them were horrible. She had to deal with physical abuse, families who took in foster children to cook and clean as slaves, some with foster brothers or fathers who would try to get into her bed. Every time that happened, her magic would shoot from her. Things would catch on fire and she would be safe until morning when her care worker would take her from the house.

When she turned eleven, she was accepted into Salem Institute of Magic. She was finally able to have a home. On her train ride to Salem for the first time, she met two annoying boys who turned into her best friends ever: Virgil Fox and Ted Alexander. When she started at the school, she was able to finally settle down and figure out her life. That was where she fell in love with music. She picked up a few different instruments, and figured out that she had a pretty decent voice. Her sympathetic Headmaster even made it so she would be able to live at Salem year around.

The Madigan family always acted like a second home for her. Ian and Rita Madigan would take her into their home during holidays, always getting something small for her to open on Christmas with the rest of their family. As she grew up, she started to become comfortable with the Madigans. They always treated her well, and they never pushed her to open up about her life before Salem. When Rita eventually died in a car accident, she tried to pull away from the family. Unable to cope with being in their house without Rita's warm smile there. Ari started to spend more time with her best friends Virgil and Ted, figuring out later that she was in love with Ted.

She told herself that she would wait until they were at Hogwarts to tell him, something special about being able to tell him in the hollowed halls of Hogwarts seemed like a wonderful idea. She worked extra shifts at the Laughing Gnome Inn as a maid that whole summer so she would be able to save up for a decent Yule Ball dress and waited until they got to the school. Apparently she waited too long, because Ted ended up sleeping with her only female friend all over that school. The love died and Ari feared that she would become colder and more closed off than ever before.

Swearing off Ted Alexander as anything more than her best friend, she started her fifth into sixth year summer with Gaspard Chavalier as her guardian. They spent the first night together talking, drinking beer and eating Thai food. He treated her like her opinion mattered and like he was concerned with her for more reasons than she was the pseudo-daughter of the Headmaster and his charge for the summer.

They started a secret relationship that summer, Ari falling impossibly deeply for the man.

When school rolled around, they attempted to keep their distance from each other but would usually cave and they would end up in his office, or in a back area of the library. They were in love and passionate for each other. Who could blame them?

During the winter break of her sixth year, Ari was offered adoption papers into the Madigan family which she happily signed and accepted. Her first act of being a Madigan was storming into Paul's apartment and confronting him about his use of steroids. An act that caused Paul to become angered with her and shove her down a flight of stairs. She hit her head so much, that her brain began to bleed. She was in a coma for three weeks. When she finally woke up, she tried to escape the hospital to be back with her family and Gaspard. The next time she saw Paul, she made a deal that she would tell everything that she fell. If he got help.

During the next few months, Ari and Gaspard became even worse about running off to his office together, so much that she became pregnant. When the two of them told her family, her father had a heart attack from the news. She nearly lost her mind, convinced that she killed her father by being selfish and wanting to keep her child. When her father woke up, he told her that he saw Rita standing before him. That she told him that he had to love the baby, because that was going to be his grandchild.

Ian eventually accepted that Gaspard was going to be around to be the father of his child, but did resign his position as librarian of Salem. He recently asked Ari to marry him, and she said yes. The two of them are planning their first child, a girl to be named Daisy Odette Chavalier.
