James understood the need for her to do this, the need for him to meet her parents. It was important to her and the man completely understood that and he would do anything that she needed him to do. The man wanted to make her happy. When she spoke about her father, the woman’s eyes lit up and when she spoke of her mother, the sound of love came from her lips. The woman was family oriented and no man could talk like her… No matter how much he loved his own family, showing it in his words, it was different then the way she spoke of her family. The man liked it and he wondered what she looked like and sounded like when speaking about him when he wasn’t there. One day, he would have to watch from far away. The man had heard of the fear she held for hurting them and James could not see that happening. Charley loved her family so much!

The feeling of her hand on his own made him smile and he saw the blush on her face and he leaned over and gentle kissed her cheeks. It was funny to see her blush and beyond cute. The livingroom was full of family pictures and love and the man looked at everything as they walked by it. The books that overflowed the shelves were easily seen as all types. As he passed baby pictures and wedding pictures, he smiled at one and looked at her as they walked into the kitchen. ”Momma, Daddy, this is James, my boyfriend.” The man looked at her father first who stood over the stove and then to her mother who’s blond hair was pulled up with a bandana and her skin held art of tattoos. ”James Richardson, these are my parents, Renee and Esmeralda DuBois.” As the man looked between both, he watched as her father stepped forward and held out his hand to shake. James wasted little time to take the firm handshake and he gave a pleasant smile. “It’s nice to meet you, James. Our Lottie has spoken high of you.”

”It is an honor to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. DuBois. Charley has spoken highly of both of you and I have been very excited to meet you since we left Hogwarts.” The man knew that impressions were good and his voice showed that he was very pleased to meet the family. Another thing was that sooner or later, James would be crowded by two twins and an older brother.

James caught something out of the corner of his eyes and it was her mother walking over towards her and he smiled at the woman. Charley’s family seemed perfect and he was sure his own family would love them too. It was something about his mother and father that he liked, they always wanting to make sure that extended family felt like family, his mother especially. The woman was always throwing little parties and inviting people over monthly just to relax and be pampered. He was sure she would try and do the same for Charley’s own parents once they finally all met. As he turned, he noticed that papers were being moved and he moved aside to allow a chair to float by him. Being magical had its advantages and he loved it.

”James, why don’t you take a seat and tell us about yourself. We’ll be having dinner soon.” James smiled at Charley’s mother and nodded. ”Thank you ma’am.” The man said, pulling out Charley’s chair like a gentleman before seating himself. As he sat down, the man could smell the spice floating through the air and smiled lightly as he looked towards Renee. ”Do you like gumbo, James?” James gave a quick nod. ”Yes Sir. My father’s family is from north Louisiana near Minden. His mom cooks Gumbo every time we come over. My dad does too when he isn’t too busy.” The man said, liking that he could finally have someone Gumbo that wasn’t family. It was that he didn’t like their Gumbo, but it was not to have it from other people.

The man looked at Charley and smiled lightly at her. It wasn’t too terrible bad like she had let on, but then again, her sisters and brother were not in the room just yet.

The man wanted nothing more than to impress her parents, but he also knew that impressions were not the only thing about being around them. The man was himself, something his mother would be proud of and his father would be happy about. As she sat down, he pulled his own chair out and smiled at her words. ”Thank you, James.” James nod. ”You’re Welcome.” The man said to her as he pulled his own chair up to the table.

”Is that right? Well, welcome down to New Orleans, you like it so far?” James nodded to the man and he leaned slightly into the table as he relaxed into his chair. ”Yes sir. Awesome city and beautiful.” The man said to the other gentleman as he got some gumbo in his own bowl with thick rice. It smelt wonderful. At the sound of other people in the house the man glanced over towards the entrance into the kitchen. ”You’re such a liar!” The man noticed the hand motions of the popular game he use to play as a kid and chuckled as Renee turned his attention to the. ”Girls, settle down, dinner is ready.” As the girls sat down and looked over at him, Charley introduced him to them, though he knew them. ”James, these are my sisters Madeline and Jasmine. Maddie, and Jazzy, you both know James from school right?”

As they waved, he did too. It was then off to the older brother who James swore he had seen at the school before, but it had probably been years and when he was still a first year. ”Nee, this is my boyfriend, James Richardson.” The man took the other’s hand and smiled at him, but man sure the hand shake was just as firm her brother’s hand shake. ”Nice to meet you, James.”

”Same to you.” James said before he focused on the parents again and took another bite of the gumbo. Smiling, he swallowed the food before speaking. ”Mr. Dubois, what did you put in the gumbo? It is good.” Wanting to finish his sentence so he could take another bite, the man made sure he paid attention to everyone at the table and even looked to his sisters. ”What are you two doing this next year at school? Quidditch?”

James had remembered her telling him that it was huge that he was introduced to her parents and he wanted her to know his family too, so they both had the same goal. James knew she was going to do great and she was going to meet her goals like she wanted to. It was good to be able to meet the family and he knew the younger girls, though he was sure they were probably not happy with him. The man couldn't wait to see her during the school year, to be able to go to New Zealand and enjoy her down time. It was funny to watch the parents in action as they took care of the younger siblings. Knowing that they had all been placed in different houses, he couldn't image how this house was when it came to quidditch season. As they all seemed to sit at the table and settle into dinner, James felt completely at home. "Richardson, you’re a year younger than Charley right?” The sound of a thud made him glance over at Charley with a smile.

"Please stop making that a big deal.” Her brother hadn't been the first to mention it and James chuckled slightly. "Yea, I am... But, same house and her place on the quidditch team is gonna be hard to replace." The man said, smiling at her before winking slightly.

"Secret family recipe, James.” The sound of the others sighing made him glance around before nodding. "Best kind to have, sir." James said, knowing that having the recipe would take the taste away. Trying to figure it out was always fun. “Passed down from generation to generation, and then Esme here got her hands on it and made it a thousand times better.” James chuckled and looked at the bowl before taking another big bite. "My dad has made it a lot in the past, my favorite was when we were all camping on some family land and he brought back with him some squirrel and deer and my mom put chicken, sausage, deer, and squirrl in it." James said, remembering the weekend like it was yesterday and smiling when he remembered the friends his parents brought with them and how they were like aunts and uncles to him.

"Paomet is going to take it from you next year, without your keeper there to stop us.” James smiled at her and pointed his spoon at her. "She might be gone, but that just means I will have to work extra hard, might even place as an extra keeper when I'm looking for that little snitch." The man said to her with a smile before looking at Charley.

“Do you have your eye on anyone to replace me on the team?” The man thought about it for a moment and then back at her. "The only one that really showed promise is Nikita Chiolis. We will see."

Being invited to this family dinner was something he had not completely expected. Actually, he figured he would visit for a few hours and then head back home and enjoy dinner with his parents, but that hadn't been the case. It was nice though, to feel welcomed, though her brother seemed to be a bit tense, James just knew it would take time. Nee didn't know James like the other did, they had all been around him more. "I think that you’ll be okay without me, plenty of people are dying to get on amazing team.” James nodded in agreement with her. "Yes, a lot of people want on the team, but I need the skill that you always seemed to possess." The man said, knowing it would be extremely hard to find someone to replace her, but when they did, everything would work out.

“Our recipe has deer, squirrel and even a little bit of gator meat in it.” James nodded and smiled as he had found some of the deer and small pieces of squirrel with little problem. Though, he was surprised about the gator since they were seen more as pets then animal to be used for food, but James figured there was a reason and he didn't bother asking too much about it. “You and your family go camping a lot?” James nodded towards Renee and put his spoon down as he wiped his mouth and figured he would let some of the rice settle into his stomach before digging in again. "We try to, but with my father's job, not as much as we would all like... Normally, we try and go to some family land in Shongaloo, Louisiana during Christmas Break so my siblings and I can all go hunting with our father. My mother stays at the came site and keep everything under control there." The man said before Charley spoke.

"We usually go once a summer, always pick somewhere new to go.” James smiled and thought about it, but knew he would have to talk to his muggle grandparents to make sure they would be welcomed. His father was always welcomed because he owned a quarter of the land, but he was still trying to obtain the rest from other family members. James wanted to own all the land so that way he could truly fix it up. "Well, I am sure my grandparents wouldn't mind you guys camping on the family land up north... It is pretty nice area."

The sound of the twins laughter made him look towards them. "Going to be a keeper and a seeker? It’ll just be that much easier to kick your butt, Richardson.” The man smiled and thought about it for a moment. "We shall see about that." The man said, smiling at them before looking at Charley. “Just going to serve under a new captain, I even think that Rider took the captain position for the Salem team at Aridorn.” James nodded. "It's in her blood to lead. The woman is going to be a great player professionally." The man said as he took another small bite of the gumbo, unable to resist the taste and stop eating completely. "I even heard she’s going to play professionally too.” James had heard that too and it wouldn't have surprised him at all.

"What are your plans for after graduation?” James looked over at Charley's mother and smiled, leaning back in his chair. "Work the family business ma'am. My grandfather started it years ago, breeding and training magical and non-magical equine. He is one of the only ones who can actual say he has all the magical equines and a lot of non-magical equines." James was very proud of his grandfather and it showed when he spoke... But he also had a passion for the equine he grew up around.

Noticing the blush for a moment on her face and smiled slightly at her and wondered why he made her blush so much. To be honest, the only thing James did was speak the truth about her. The woman didn't need someone to help her be awesome, she did that all on her very own. Never would he have thought he would be dating her, but he was happy they were together. "Yeah well, all of those nights practicing helped, let’s just hope I can get onto the Aridorn team.” James smiled and leaned slightly against the table as he looked at her nearly perfectly in the eyes. "If whoever doesn't put you on that team, we will have words." James and Rider were good friends and he would expect her to put in a good word for Charley. His woman had great skills and everyone knew it.

“If they get too violent, you know, attacking other gators or people, we have to take them away. We can’t have them drawing too much attention to us here.” That made a lot of sense to him and he nodded easily as he took another bite of the food, which was beyond delicious. The man loved it, there was no denying that. "I have been trying to get these four to go hunting with me for years, I always end up going either by myself, or with some friends. Your father is lucky to have you do with him.” James smiled at Renee and nodded. "I'm lucky to have him. The man is extremely fun, maybe if y'all come, he can show you some good hunting places." The man said to her father as he took another bite of food and then waters as water floated down to him. "Thank you Mrs. DuBois."

"That would be lovely James, so long as you and your parents go with us.” James smiled and gave her a simple nod in agreement with her. Glancing at Charley he saw the smile on her face and knew he had made a good impression on her parents, but it would still take time to make sure he had a good relationship with them.

"It’s either Rider or Ray, I’m not sure.” James thought about it and smiled. "Either way, two great captains and I will be sure to mention it to both of them." The man said to her as he sipped some on the water and leaned back into his chair and realized his gumbo was gone and that he was still rather hungry. "May I get some more, Mr. DuBois?" The man asked Charley's father, though he was sure there would be a yes, he didn't want to take without asking.

As James spoke about his family business he glanced over at Charley and smiled at her. "Sounds like hard work, but I think you would be well suited for it. Not sure about Lottie though, not even sure she’s ever even seen a horse.” James smiled and put his arm around the back of her chair slightly, though not touching her, it was close enough to feel his warmth on her back. "Oh, I'm sure she would like being around them. They are loyal animals, like family sometimes." James said as he glanced over at Charley. "If I can stare down a gator, I think I can handle a horse.” James chuckled.

“Just think it’s a little soon for you to even be considered part of his future plans.” The sound of something being kicked under the table told him Charley was kicking her brother. James smiled at Nee and shrugged. "I don't know... Granted, we never know where the future will bring us, but at some point in another, everyone in your past will be in your future... Honestly, having her there would be a welcomed thing." And of course, his parents had started young themselves, not like he would though, but he wanted her to be there with him.

Looking at his Cajun Gypsy, the man gave her a smile, one that showed his true love and passion for her. The man had know she had considered dating another James... Potter, the son of Harry Potter, but she had chosen him and that was something he was extremely honored to know. Most women would jump at a chance to date the son of someone famous, but Charley hadn't. The man had heard enough rumors about the young man and he hadn't liked what he heard, but the man didn't judge others, it was something his mother made sure to pound into his thick, hard head. That was a good thing though, something he prided himself about. At the sound of her laughter, he watched as her smile brightened the room and took the moment to memory. The man would need those moments... Need those smiled in his memory so that he would make it through the last year of school. "Going to march down to New Zealand and defend my honor?” The man smiled slightly and thought about it for a moment.

"Nah, I'll grab the pegasus and fly down, might make a better impression." The man gave her a wink and smiled at her as knew she might find that extremely interesting. When she came to Alabama, he planned on taking her on a flight around the homeland and let her see what it really felt like. Noticing the others give signs of approval, he noted that her brother was not so happy about it, which wasn't something he was surprised about. James had a younger sister too, so he knew about the protective nature.

"Let your father know that I’m willing to look around some of these grounds, what kind of game do ya’ll go after?” James looked at Renee and nodded at what he said about checking out the land. As he was about to answer, the sound of her mother's voice sounded and he smiled at her question. "We would love to meet your parents, James. Are they in Alabama or is Bama Boy just Lottie’s nickname for you?” The man chuckled and looked at Charley. "I'm sure they would love to meet you all too... And yes and no ma'am... My dad works in Washington State at Fort Lewis... He is a muggle, but mom set up a portal so we could go back and forth at any time between Washington and our house in Alabama, so sometimes we can be found in one or the other... Dad has special permission from the ministry to use the Portal so he can be with everyone..." The man said, before returning his attention to Renee. "He hunts deer mostly, but I think there are some wild hogs up there too and sometimes he grabs some squirrel on his way back from a hunt so we can cook them up." The man said as he was about to get up, only to sit back down because Esme took his plate.

"I can get you some, James.” The man knew better then to argue with a mother, since his mother was the same way with guest and his father. It was then that he noticed the moving tattoos and found them rather interesting. Glancing at Charley, he wondered if she would get some one day, but the man would probably want that mystery to stay a mystery so he could be surprised. James' father wasn't a fan of tattoos, though he never voiced that to the public, his mother had one tattoo, but it was always hidden by her clothing.

"I think I can handle them, so long as you show me what to do.” The man chuckled at her as she nudged him on the shoulder. "I think that having James in my future would be a welcomed thing as well.” James was sure her brother wouldn't like that too much, but James wanted her to know exactly what he wanted and that was her in his future. "Well, I think you’re a charming young man, and I think you’re good for our Lottie, I can’t wait to meet your parents.” James smiled and let out a sigh.

"Thank You, Mrs. DuBois... And I am sure I can get my parents to stop for an evening to have dinner or something... My mother loves doing little events, so she would probably plan a seven course meal." It was a joke, so he hoped they laughed.
