JAMES DAVID RICHARDSON
SEVENTEEN | CHARLOTTE REBECCA DUBOIS | COUNTRY | BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA
Being that he was dating her and not the other James, he felt rather good about himself. Maybe he was being a little too confident, but the man felt good about having asked Charlotte to be his girl and the fact that she made him smile made it all the better. Looking over at her, he smiled before glancing at Nee, wondering what it would take to make the man understand he wasn't a threat but was a friend? James wasn't sure, but one day, he might find out. Looking at the others, he was quick to notice all the looks on their faces and the fact that she was laughing at him. A smile came to his face at all the expression and then he was rather shocked about the question that came from her sister, Jasmine. "They just let you ride them? Like some Greek myth shit?” James chuckled at her question and then looked at her mother and at the jar that he looked at for a moment with curiousity. "You know the rules, Jazzy.” Watching as she got up, she put the change in the jar and then returned to the table.
"Show up with a cowboy hat and everyone will realize I’m not kidding when I say my boyfriend is a real life cowboy.” James smiled at her and gave a quick wink. "When do I not wear one? And to answer your question, yes... Our Pegasus have been trained for different things. Some are for personal riding while others are for pulling carriages and such... Mom and Geegee flew across the atlantic one day with a small herd that they were selling and trading." The man said as he looked around for a moment and relaxed as he sat there. It was nice to be around them, they were all so nice and extremely kind, except for maybe Nee.
"Do you prefer Washington or Alabama?” James looked at the person who asked and thought about it for a moment. "I kind of like them both... Both have extremely beautiful locations and plenty of muggle and magical fun." The man said as he leaned slightly on the table and thought a bit more about both locations. "Of course, Alabama is my home. Washington is just temporary right now." Though his mother and father were considering buying another house and renting it in case one day they wanted to settle down in that location.
"Do you get to see your Daddy with the portal often, or does he mainly stay in Washington?” James smiled and sat back slightly. "If he doesn't come to Alabama after work, we go to Washington... During School Year, mom and dad say in Washington a bit more than during the school year, but summer time dad is almost always there in the evenings. Sometimes, he has to go back real late... Sometimes soldiers get in trouble and he has to go handle it." The young man said as he remembered countless times in some of their last duty stations when dad had to do that. "Recently he got put in a new unit that was specially made by the part of government that knows about the magical world... It allows witches and wizards who wants to be in the army or military and they help with transitions and basically put the soldiers in the unit until they are ready to go out into normal units... They are like normal units, but dad teaches them how to be more muggle over magical when in public." The man explained to the man as he sat there at the table and looked between her father and Nee, noticing a lot of things they had in common.
"I haven’t gone hogging in a while, maybe me and Nee could meet up with you and your dad. Assuming he has the time for some muddy fun.” James gave a smile and was about to answer when Charley spoke. “So long as no one gets shot, that could be fun.” James chuckled at Charley and looked back at the two. "The word muddy would make dad bring out the jeep he worked on when I was a child and offer to take you mud riding after hunting... He likes going mudding at night, so it works out... But, I am sure he can make time... All mom would have to do is make the portal go to the hunting location and we could go camping." Though his father wasn't allowed to go more than one hundred fifty miles away from base, magic allowed a little lee-way.
As he was spotted looking at the tattoos, he glanced away with a slight blush. "Like them?” The man nodded slightly. "I got them when I was fourteen, it was a right of age tradition in my family.” Fourteen? It was young and his mother might have killed him. "Momma is Romany, they would travel around so much that their family needed a way to identify other magical people. They came up with the charmed tattoos, muggles just see brilliant art work, magical folks though, they can see it move. It helped keep them safe from accidentally doing magic in front of muggles.” James gave an impressed look and wondered if his father would see them move... Since he was allowed to use magical portals due to his mother being a witch, it was possible right? The man wasn't sure.
“That’s right, grew up in the back of a caravan, until I decided that the biggest and greatest adventure would be going to America.” Smiling at the couple and glanced away to allow them some more privacy. "It is extremely cool, Ms. DuBois."
“Ain’t no need for that, James, we’re not that fancy here, but they’re always welcomed, and so are you.” The feeling of her hand in his own made him smile and he looked back at the older couple. "Thank You." James looked at the fresh bowl of gumbo and took another bite of it, smiling at the warmth it brought to his stomach and the delicious food.
