Character Name: Philippe Cheney Dubois
Character Age: 37
Education Background: Beauxbatons
Job: Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor, Beauxbatons
Wand: 14” Acacia with Hippogriff Tail Hair
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Pansexual; contrary to popular believe this isn’t him simply being greedy or confused as they are simple misconceptions to the phrase. When it comes to romantic or sexual situations, Philippe doesn’t believe he is able to say that he is attracted to this about a male, or that about a female. He finds attraction in a person and everything along the lines of gender will do nothing to influence this.

Play-By: David Garrett
Hair Shade: Dirty Blonde
Hair Style: Philippe’s hair is long and has been worn that way for an exceptionally long time. Falling beyond his shoulders in length it is only seen like this when he is relaxing. When he is working or busy with something it gets pulled back, normally in to a bun, in order to keep it from getting in the way.
Eye Color: Hazel
Build: The best way to describe him really is that he is of average build, standing at 6’1 he is tall but by no means lanky and although he likes to keep fit and healthy when possible with his busy job he doesn’t have excessively built muscles, being more on the toned side since he normally only gets the chance to go running, occasionally swimming as exercise.
Dressing Style: For work he likes to dress quite sharp to say the least and much prefers modern garments. Having spent his twenties based in Paris he picked up a bit of a fondness for the fashion so likes to adorn a nice tailored suit when he is required to look presentable although when it is his own time he is much more casual, normally sporting the simple wear of jeans, tee shirt and if he still needs to look nice a blazer. It has been known that he has put on much more classic pieces of attire but he prefers to stay out of dress robes when at all possible.

Overall Personality: When it comes to the role of Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher it is easy to have in image in your mind of a person who has been out on the front line; has all these secrets to hide and tales to tell and who lurks in the shadows hunting out the dark arts and evil in the world. Philippe is none of this to say the least. An open teacher he doesn’t have a rigid classroom regime and his years at Beauxbatons he has been known as the tutor who gives out the respect he expects to receive in return and it has worked well for him. Unsavoury students do get disciplined appropriately but he finds he rarely has to do this and likes to avoid conflict at all costs.
Strange really for one of the most ‘aggressive’ subjects to be taught but he is a believer that it is in fact defence against the dark arts and is being taught for this reason. Now he doesn’t run from a fight, for that is simply cowardly, but he doesn’t go out looking for them. The magic he specialises in and that he teaches is done so to protect.
Despite all his 'teachering'ness aside though he is one of those people that is so calm it can be irritating. When you want them to get angry he is internally arguing all sides of the case to remain completely impartial and able to see it from a level headed view. It makes him a great ear when you need to talk about a problem since he will counter it from all sides but very irritating when you want to get a reaction out of someone.

Overall History: Born into a wizarding family, there was no surprises when the time came for the entire Dubois family to take a trip to Paris to get supplies for their eldest child and only son’s first year at Beauxbatons; the school that both of his parents had attended for 7 years. With a wand picked out and his robes all packed up ready for the journey the young boy set off on his journey.
Beauxbatons was an experience and a half for the boy, he had no idea just how many others there were out there like him. Throughout the years his talents developed and flourished. His grades were steady and generally at an above average level with the exception of a few subjects but he truly excelled in defence against the dark arts. It was quite a shock to a lot of the teachers really for this rather quiet young man who was friendly enough but was rarely riled up by fellow students ad was quite happy to keep to himself could put all others in his class to shame with his abilities as if he had been learning and practising for years. When he wasn’t studying he was out on the quidditch pitch; his father had taught him to fly as a young boy and in his fourth year he found himself to be quite the dabhand at Quidditch and enjoyed his position of Chaser.
When it came to graduating though, only one of these was continued on and by the age of 20 the young blonde had found himself in Paris, renting a small apartment in the 8th Arrondissement, overlooking the champs-elysees. With a job at ‘le ministère’ under his belt it wasn’t great but he was making a difference. Working for the auror department his exceptionally knowledge in DADA meant he was an endless font of knowledge for them. On several occasions he considered the role but it took until he was 29 to actually get out in to the field.
Once he was out there though was it fun? Did he thrive in being out there tackling the real issues? No, he did not. He lasted for two years before he had to hang up his robe for no reason other than his own decision. Going out there and finding these situations, running in to conflict it wasn’t for him. Back in the offices he had been able to do background research, to help prevent these occurences but out there he couldn’t help but feel like a dog sniffing out trouble. It simply wasn’t for him and although he was offered a job back at the ministry itself he politely declined.
At 31, Philippe waved goodbye to the ministry and even allowed his sister, recently married and mother of twins, to move in to the town house that he had acquired after years on his ministry salary and, with his savings, moved down to the south west of the country; somewhere much quieter but still with a little hustle and bustle he wanted a little time to himself to decide what he wanted to do with his life now he had walked away from the ministry. It was all he had known for 11 years and it was as he sat outside his favourite restaurant one hot summer evening that he realised.
Several interviews later with the head of beauxbatons a position had arisen that he was but the prime candidate for. The professor that proceeded him was apparently quite the unsavoury fellow so he was to be a nice breathe of fresh air for the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom and has remained in that role to this day.
