Maelynn is the type of girl that buries herself into her work. She gets so invested in what she is doing for a story that she tends to put everything else on the back burner. As a result, she has no personal life to speak of. She goes into work early everyday and comes home left. Her girlfriends from school stopped calling to invite her out to a clue and she can’t remember the last time she went out on a actual date. Her father on the other had keep trying to get her up on blind dates knowing how much that bugs her. Which has caused her to stop visiting parents as much, she might stop by once or twice a month now and wont stay long.
Due to years of investing numerous people and trying to get every single detail out of a story, she has developed a thick skin and persistent nature. She has been know to use her cunning demeanor to get what she needs and her witty nature to relate with people. She will do whatever she has to in order to get the full story. Her co-workers often joke that she could be a detective if she wanted due to the amount of details she takes in.

Overall History:
Maelynn was born the middle child of the Leroy’s…the only girl out of four brothers. Needless to say she grew up a bit tomboyish. She would wrestle around with her brothers, play catch in the backyard and even fished in the lake behind the house. She actually enjoyed growing up but wished she could have stayed young little longer. Nearing her eleventh birthday, she and her family took a trip to the beach during the summer. Everything was fine and she was enjoying herself. She swam with her brothers and watched as they tried to surf. She was in the middle of building a sandcastle when a group of jerks just stepped all over it as they walked past. She wiped the sand from her eyes and glared over at them as they continued to walk away. All she remembers was being so mad at them. Suddenly the leader of the group starts freaking out and from the distances she could see a hoard of tiny crabs submerging from the sand and crawling up their legs. She watched with wide eyes and had the terrible feeling that she had caused that somehow.
Since that day, she couldn’t stop thinking about what had happened. She couldn’t shake the feeling that it was her fault. Finally her eleventh birthday came along and she got out of bed with a pep in her step. She got dressed for the day and went into the kitchen where he mother was cooking breakfast. ‘Honey you got a letter’ She smiled and pointed to the stack of letters and bills on the counter. She remembers how elegant the envelope looked and the weird stamp sealing it. She quickly opened it and didn’t fully understand. She gave it to her mother. “Hmm, its an invitation to a school….here in France … for Magic” She let out a mocking giggle and placed the letter down. “its probably once of those silly magic schools where they teach you how to pull a rabbit from your hat” Marlynn wasn’t sure what to make of the letter but her parents just threw it away. A few days later a woman came to their house and told them everything. That Maelynn was a gifted human girl and they wanted to teach her how to hone her skills.
Her school years flew by and she had made many friends at her new school. She did well with her studies and passed all of her classes with honors. Her parents couldn’t be more proud of her and they decided to keep her magic a secret from her brothers. Once she had graduated she went to further her education at a local college for literature and creative writing. It wasn’t long after that she had graduated again and landed herself a nice job at the Witch Weekly. She loves her job but over the years it has been putting a strain on her past relationships. She has lost many friends because she puts her job first.
