Overall Personality: Ellis is a rather quiet individual. Despite his outward appearance he dislikes being the center of attention, or having people focus on him for too long. He suffers from a bit of anxiety, causing him to freeze up in most social situations and stutter uselessly. This can typically be assessed properly by watching his hands, which he tends to twist together if he's uncomfortable. This anxiety goes hand in hand with his shyness, leaving him incapable of having a full conversation since he attempts to distance himself from others anyway. Disliking many close relationships out of fear of being hurt or bullied he is unattached to people, which can be annoying when he finds himself bored with conversation or unwilling to listen to others. He always tries to get away from spending time alone with people, disliking the thought of opening himself up and being judged. Ellis leaves conversations ending with 10 sentences or less and with one or two word answers, in a vague attempt at annoying the other person into walking away.

Persistence isn't something he appreciates, and he's developed a very blunt and sarcastic attitude to combat unwanted attention. He isn't afraid to say what he wants to people he doesn't like, or who say things he doesn't like, and he's quite mastered the art of painful sarcasm. Shameless in his verbal assaults when confronted by idiocy his ultimate goal is to shock into silence, where he can walk away confidently knowing he won't be further bothered. He can admit that at times his sarcasm is unwarranted by his impatient attitude towards others, though his impatience towards people is balanced out by his contemplative and resourceful attitude toward school and activities he actually enjoys. When asked what he plans to do with his education, however, he simply shrugs, merely enjoying the unique experience he is able to have.

Most relaxed, he is often found outside with a mischievous smile and his skateboard, with his cat Babushka in tow meowing insistently. He's quite reckless, despite the fact that most of the acts he submits himself to aren't even his ideas. Easily convinced and rather oblivious to the laws of physics and most concepts of how bones and flesh actually work, he finds himself in and out of the medical wing and on first name basis with the nurse. Perhaps he's a bit of an adrenaline junkie, with his mind wandering with strange questions that he then wants to test. Romantically he's slightly clingy, having low self esteem and silently requesting a confirmation that he's worth his significant others time. Ellis dislikes PDA, and will more often than not squirm in discomfort if his hand is held.

Overall History: Ellis was born to a single mother in a small hospital surrounded by his maternal family. His father, having had an affair and divorced his mother just before his birth, was nowhere to be found having left the country to live with his new sex kitten in Aruba. Despite the betrayal from Jacob, Maryanne decided to give her son the last name of his father, considering the magical blood that his father had running through his veins, and the extensive family history he had in relation to the famous Brother's Grimm of Germany. Vowing to raise her son in the city of Seattle, Washington without his help, his mother kept her word though it took a toll on both mother and child. Maryanne didn't much want her son knowing about his magical heritage, considering she had no magic blood to speak of. Items that had been left behind by Jacob about his family, such as the original copy of the book of fables the brother's had written, was passed down immediately to Ellis. She neither denied nor implied that magic existed when he asked her, and allowed him to believe what he would. Though their life was quiet in their small apartment, they were content in their own way.

Ellis was bullied from a young age for being a quiet child who would much rather keep to himself than play with the other children. He changed schools several times before simply giving up telling his mother, since the problem was straining her more and more over the years. This resulted in a low sense of self-esteem, though he never outwardly seemed depressed or distressed. However, the pressure built up over the years, and the dam broke. In an explosion of violent magic resulting the destruction of his living room, his mother finally decided it was time to move away from America, and back to Europe within distance of his paternal family who'd been waiting for his magical gifts to reveal themselves. Settling in a lovely little coastal town she shipped Ellis off to Germany for a few weeks to learn about his family history.

Being submerged into the magical world for the first time caused Ellis to shrink back, unable to take in all the sudden information. Though he learned about how great his relatives were, and the legacy of the Grimm name, the information didn't change him. He still considered himself Maryanne's son, and not some great rich kid. It didn't come as much a surprise when his Hogwarts letter came, though due to a slight mishap in communications he received both his Salem and Hogwarts letters, and there was minor confusion to which school he'd attend.
