Overall Personality:

Luke is an all around quiet person. He often takes long services in self-imposed isolation of thought and study. Few understand what goes on in his mind, or why he acts distant. Though were one to somehow gather his scrambled thoughts and put them into place, they would find out that he suffers from a mild form of depression. Everything he experiences feels dulled to him, a greyer version of a brighter day. He's not sad, but he's not quite happy, either. It's a state of emotionless that he resides himself in. Due to this, he can sometimes be cynical, blunt and indifferent to those he cares about. This is not something he does on purpose, but something he does not realise he is doing, and that it may hurt their feelings. Not that he intends to do that, he'd never want that. He is a naturally caring, patient and supportive person for his friends. He can also act as the mediator in rough times, preferring to stay out of arguments. And at the end of the day, he is a very creative person. He tends to think outside the box and of brighter days, even when he feels his current ones are blue.

Overall History:

Luke was born in New South Wales, Australia to his two parents. He was a twin brother to Brendan Hales and younger brother to his three year older sister, Losharn. At the age of four, his mother succumbed to breast cancer and his father would later suffer from pneumonia when he was six. The third time around it claimed his fathers life. His brother and sister moved in with his grandparents from his mothers side whilst Luke was made to live with his dads grandparents in England. He didn't recall much of his family from Australia, but would occasionally receive letters from Losharn. His grandmother smothered Luke with love, whilst his grandfather taught him how to be a 'man.' He went so far as to teach him how to shake a persons hand 'properly.' He spent much of his younger years with his grandfather, making small models of soldiers and cars. It was a hobbies of his grandfather. He remembers him fondly, sitting on the porch out the back with a pipe between his lips and a can of beer on his lap.

When his grandfather passed away, his grandmother became a wreck. He had succumbed quietly in the early morning of a new day, he remembers it all too clearly. He was there with his grandmother until 3am, when Margaret suggested he get some sleep. Luke had gone home, after spending 9 hours by his granddads side. Thirty minutes after Luke had left, they had declared him deceased. Luke bore his casket down the aisle. He was fifteen, and in his first few years of Hogwarts. Something he seemed to forget too often. His home life was all that took up his mind. At age sixteen, Luke became homeless with the death of his grandmother. Unable to communicate with family back home, he's lived in homeless shelters and shelters for the youth. He always looked forward to returning back to Hogwarts for another year, and sadly, this year would be his last. He was not looking forward to coming back 'home' - Wherever that was now.
