Addie Cherise Korva
How would you feel if, at only eleven years old, your entire life as you knew it was shattered? There is no one answer for it, but Addie Cherise Korva would tell you that it renders you speechless, makes your stomach knot up, makes you angrier than you've ever felt before, and it just plain changes you. How could she know this? Simply put, because at only 11 years old, she got a letter from the Salem School of Magic, and the world as she knew it disappeared forever.
Addie was raised believing that she was the only child of Fiona and Tony Korva. It didn't matter that her parents had black hair and she had red hair, Fiona always said that Addie got it from her grandmother and Addie was perfectly content with that answer. After all, that was the only other thing. Other than that, the three of them had brown eyes and were on the paler side. Why should she suspect anything different?
Addie still remembers the day that she received the letter from Salem. She had just turned 11 a couple weeks ago and was sitting at the kitchen table eating frosted flakes while her father, Tony, was sitting across from her eating the same and watching the news on the little TV they had in the kitchen. The mailman always came in the morning on Saturday so Fiona had gone out to check it. When she came back in she looked paler than normal and gave Tony a 'we need to tell her now' look.
Once Addie finished eating they brought her in to the living room to talk and dropped the first bombshell: Magic was very real and she was about to become a part of it. They explained all they knew about Salem (which wasn't a whole lot) and then they did their best to explain what they knew about the wizarding world (again, not a whole lot) and if that wasn't enough for Addie's 11 year old mind to take in, they dropped the second bombshell: She was adopted.
Addie was the result of a one night stand between two students of Hogwarts, the magical school in England, Ginevra Weasley and Michael Corner. Being that Ginny was only 16 at the time, in a relationship, and Michael having some serious health issues by the time she was born, Ginny never told him and a mutal friend, Hermione Granger, helped Ginny find Fiona and Tony to take care of Addie. Ginny only had two requests - shelter Addie until her 11th birthday and to give Addie the letter that Ginny wrote explaining the whole situation in detail.
In all honesty, the real reality of the everything didn't fully sink in until a couple days later. She was just so excited because magic was real and she was going to a school for magic. Then she realized that Fiona and Tony had been lying to her for her whole 11 years of life. Well that made Addie angry and she made sure she let them know that. Then she was upset and she let them know that too. However, by the time Addie was ready to begin Salem, it seemed that all her whirlwind of emotions had died down.
After being sorted in to Aylward, Addie decided that she had to become the best witch that she could. She had the mentality that if she could become good enough maybe her real parents would want to meet her. Over the next 7 years Addie Korva developed in to a quite capable witch. She was knowledgeable on many subjects, tried her best to be kind to others and keep 'enemies' to a minimum. All in all she just wanted to be the child that her real parents would want her to be. Every year she would read Ginny's letter and reaffirm her goals.
Deep down, Addie knew that Fiona and Tony would always be her real parents though, no matter if they really weren't. She didn't truly know this Ginevra or Michael, and she was fairly sure by how her parents spoke that the two of them weren't together. During her 7th year Addie truly did wonder if it would be worth it to go through the effort to meet them. Then, towards the end of the school year she read a copy of the Daily Prophet with an article written by Ginny Weasley, of course now it was Ginny Potter. Addie took it has a sign that she had to at least meet them once.
After she finished Salem, Addie went on to a muggle college for a few years to study journalism in hopes of getting a job at the Prophet. At the age of 24 she was offered a position as a freelancer for the Prophet. Now at 26 Years old Addie has temporarily moved to England in hopes of finding a story and her parents. Every child deserves to meet their real parents at least once, right?
Personality
Over all Addie is a nice and generous person. She was taught to always be polite around strangers and that there are times when it is better to just stay silent. However she did gain Ginny's occasional temper and her attitude towards certain things. She has a love of knowledge and hates large crowds. She makes friends easily and tries to get along with everyone -even though that's not always possible. Being in Journalism sometimes you have to ask the tough questions, unfortunately Addie is still working on that. She has some trouble with asking questions she feels might be too personal or might make people offended; she is working on it though, knowing that if she's ever going to be a good journalist she'll have to learn at some point.
