Charlotte looked at her sleeping son in his crib and couldn't believe that he was already there. It seemed like only the day before she was throwing up in her bathroom at Aridorn. When she thought that she picked up some bug because she had absolutely no memory of her rape. When she found out she was pregnant, she had no idea what she was going to do. She considered aborting the small life in her stomach. She thought about snuffing out the baby, but realized that she wouldn't just be getting rid of a piece of herself. While she would always support a woman's right to decide if they wanted to keep a baby or not, she knew that she would never be able to get rid of her own.
Luka was her child, he might be half of Callum, but he had nothing to do with the baby. Callum would never know about the baby and Charlotte would make sure that her son only knew James as his father.
Charley ran her fingers through her curly blonde hair and turned on the baby monitor that would alert her if Luka woke up from his nap. The young mother walked into her living room, grabbing some of the dishes that she had left there when she had lunch and fed Luka. Things had been difficult, but she was enjoying being a mother. Knowing that she and James were being the best parents possible for their little boy, it made the long nights worth it. When she was able to smile at her baby boy and know that he was loved, it was perfect.
There was a textbook on the table, filled with spells that she had to study if she wanted to become a healer. They had given her time away from the hospital since she wanted to spend time with her son, and thankfully they were also understanding about James joining the military. It was difficult, but they would make it work. Anything that was good for their son, was worth it in the end.
