Summers around Beauxbatons were probably as boring as could be. He would explore the library, go through his piles of books that he meant to read during the year, he would even practice his archery, but that usually only took up the first month of his time. Right around half way through July, he was bored out of his skull and looking for any excuse to do anything to keep himself entertained. Like the darling friend that she was, Bea always offered to spend her time with him, but Youngblood could never ask her to stick around and keep him company. She was a beautiful woman who had to spend her life doing something fun. She would explore the world and send him letters during her travels. He hoped that his long time friend and protege Felix Hedlund would come around with his fiance, but he knew that the two men were busy with their own lives. Just because he couldn't leave the area around Beauxbatons didn't mean that everyone else should feel as constricted with their lives.
Instead of wallowing in his boredom, Youngblood buttoned a vest over his human half and made sure that there were few wrinkles in the soft fabric and tried to do something with the unruly salt and pepper hair on the top of his head that seemed more interested in sticking up in random places. Once he looked like a participating member of society, Youngblood made his way to the nearby Merlin Court.
There were so many wonderful shops, and being one of the only centaurs who mingled with humans, he stuck out like a sore thumb. The ancient runes professor walked along the cobblestone street, looking at the different shop fronts to see if anything in particular caught his eye. There were so many of his students hurrying along with their friends and parents, some of them waving at him, some averting their eyes to keep from being spotted by the Deputy Headmaster of their school.
He smiled when he spotted the bookstore that he loved more than anything, and was even happier when he realized that they were having a sidewalk sale, keeping him from having to go into the store where he could potentially make people uncomfortable. He started to look through the titles, checking to see if there was anything that he had never read or even had not seen before.
