Everything had to go perfectly. He didn’t spend this much time sneaking around to have it not. Felix had been planning this whole day sense he and Harrow moved in together. It had been a task to keep it all under wraps. Various time the dogs had almost given it away by running off past the charm that he had put to conceal the extra land that he had purchased when he had learned that it had gone up for sale.
He would say that he was going next door to the bookshop and end up just a couple feet away in the backyard breaking that the concealment charm would hold up and Harrow wouldn’t spot anything going on. So far it seemed that with the travel and the dogs and everything else his future husband had no idea of the extension to their house that Felix had managed to get done and pristine just in time.
Felix managed to sneak out of bed early in the morning. Harrow was exhausted from their first week back work. No longer were they able to sleep in wrapped up in each other’s arms. Felix knew how hard it was for the love of his life to adjust to early mornings. So he had been making it a habit to get up and have coffee and a light, honestly very Swedish, breakfast of Filmjölk, soft boiled eggs and fruit. This morning was different.
He first took the time to decorate the grand surprise with a large red bow, kept in place with the help of a flick of his wand. There were some smaller apple trees planted next to the entrance gate of the grounds that led up to the stable building itself. He only took a moment to look over it all with a smile. Hopefully Harrow would love it and not scold him about “how much money did all of this cost.” He knew that his lover was still getting used to the fact that Felix had money, there was never a need to ever worry about the financial side of his life. Eventually he would get Harrow to agree to let his family help at least pay off the rest of whatever Harrow’s father owed on his house. That was a conversation for a different day.
Once he was sure that the presentation was acceptable he headed back inside trying to be as quite as he could. For a little he was doing well with his stealth mission until he kicked one of the dog’s food bowls. He froze and waited to see if anything would fallow. The three dogs did trotting into the kitchen looking for the clatter. Felix knelt down and quickly set to petting them and giving each attention in hopes that they wouldn’t start barking. At best the three dogs would trip an intruder but Felix knew that they were made for nothing but food and attention. He was thanked with multiple sloppy kisses from the dogs. It seemed that Harrow wasn’t stirred, thankfully he had to get breakfast ready before any of that happened.
“Okej okej, jag får du mat men lovar att vara ganska (Okay okay, I'll get you food but promise to be quite),” He whispered to the dogs and went to actually doing what he promised for the pups. Felix pored food into each of their bowls and made sure that they all had water too. That was when breakfast for he and Harrow got underway. It would be something more special. Harrow’s favorite coffee, fresh strawberries and blueberries for waffles. It was Harrow’s birthday so of course he was going to spoil the man rotten.
Once the table was set and breakfast was put out, Felix let the dogs out in the back yard, confidant that they wouldn’t mess up any of the stable area, with the gate there he sure hoped not anyway. It was mainly a precaution so that the pups wouldn’t try to get at the breakfast while he was waking Harrow up.
He walked into their room and crawled into the bed next to his fiancé. Felix started to lightly kiss all over his neck and face. “Rise and shine birthday boy.” He whispered with a smile wrapping his arms around the other man’s waist.
