Niels is a guy who likes to come off as confidant. Like he has a good head on his shoulders and knows the answers to everything. Really he feels like he is just guessing most of the time and hoping for the best. He used to be a lot more sure of himself. Some personal tragedies shook him but he doesn't want to give into it.

The man is not a finger wagging make sure every one is falling the rules type. Sure there are rules and he does want them to be fallowed but rather than lecturing or throwing some punishment at someone he would rather make a person admit to him what they did. Niels likes to know that he is right. He likes to make people actually admit what they did wrong. The man is someone who likes to use his words before it comes to fists and hex's. Though he can hold his own in fights, just not as well as he used to. Age has softened him a bit admitably.

Behind this smooth talking tall walking man is someone who is wracked with guilt. This is very much something that almost no one knows about. Loosing his son changed him. Niels used to be a lot more haughty. Sense then his heart became more watchful but also a little bit more fierce. Niels is in the position at the school he is because of it. He wants to see all the children in his school succeed and do well. He doesn't tend to tolerate bullying because he knows first hand what it can do.

Neil's doesn't keep friends well. It is hard for him to completely connect because there is a lot that he doesn't want to open up about (even if he understand that he should). Still he will sit with someone over a glass of good whiskey and shoot the shit. Niels does know how to have fun but a close friend is hard thing to find for this man.

Love is also something that was never something Niels truly found. He has had relationships but nothing that actually broke down his wall. Before he was a father he was just a boy who wanted to have fun, being a pro Quidditch player meant that there was plenty to choose from.

There is a chance that it is one giant fear of commitment but at the same time Niels these days doesn't want to bring someone else down with him. He is scared that one day his darkness will consume him so he does the best he can to stay afloat. That means having his confidence as a crutch. His slick words and charming smile mask all of his daemons.
