Overall Personality: While Kai is hardly the first person anyone will likely hear speak up, he is usually the person sitting in the front of the class... since that's often the furthest from the bulk of the class more so than his like for learning. Far, far more often than being found around people (except at class times, which he'll never miss if he can help it), he can be found in the library with a stack or two of books, or otherwise out somewhere without too many people around. No more does he know how to deal with people than he knows how to be very expressive, usually just putting on either a calm or, perhaps more so, nervous face.

Even with that being said, however, he's hardly averse to helping people... if he can manage it. Given his tendency to independently study ahead, he tends to be a good source of information, and won't often hesitate (much) to share it if reasonably politely requested. At times, he may be able to slowly make friends through such a thing, or otherwise through being dragged along somewhere by someone, which he's not good at avoiding when it may happen.

One should be a little wary, though; despite his highly introverted nature, Kai will fight back if he feels the need to. While it's not perhaps the most common thing for witches and wizards, he possesses some martial knowledge thanks to his mother's insistence; he'll do his best not to get himself in trouble, but he will use some of the results of such practice if necessary.

Just don't expect him to go too far out into pure dark at nighttime. One would think he'd be quite used to it given being raised mostly in a forest, but he still has issues with it nonetheless.

Overall History: Born to Albin Catalle and Laurine Renard, the young Kai's life started out... a little iffy in terms of familial relationships. Albin quickly became the father the boy never knew after walking out on his mother merely a year after Kai was born, and like that, it became rather a non-issue. He'd no father to know, no father to possibly miss or have any memories of whatsoever; instead, it was just him and his mother, in Northeastern France. In its own way, it was perfect that way; all the better for the ever so strict mother to not have a contradictory voice in raising her child, and thus to raise him how she wanted.

And he would be amongst the elite when it came to intelligence; she swore to make certain of that.

Thus his (albeit non-magical) tutelage started from a young age, aided by the fact that the woman herself had been a mathematics teacher. He was to learn the piano, he was to learn the French martial arts of savate and parkour, he was to learn to be a quick learner, and, most of all, he was to take on the mother's family heritage, of a sort: that of an animagi. All the better for growing up surrounded by the forest, all the better for Laurine being able to demonstrate to her son precisely what an animagi was and step-by-steps of how to become one. It would come relatively slowly, she well knew; after all, the boy's magic, like any with magical talent his age, developed wildly and unpredictably as he grew. But still, the magical affinity needed for that would definitely come; she'd make it so.

And naturally, given time, his inherent magical affinity, especially as a pureblood, had been noted and recognized by the local wizarding school, Beauxbatons. It was to that school that Kai received, and accepted (not that he had much choice, given his mother), an invitation. It was to that school that he went off, to further learn the ways of magic where he was largely prohibited from such outside it given his age. Years passed in relative normalcy, with the boy mostly keeping to himself and barely making a name save perhaps by virtue of his grades. Who knew what the future would hold, but one thing was certain: being raised away from people wasn't exactly doing wonders for any sort of social life, and Kai was readily convinced he largely wouldn't have one.
