Setting: Summer 2021
If not for his mother, he probably wouldn't get out much at all; Kai knew that well enough. He was far from the most social being around, though in some fairness, it wasn't all his fault. It was his mother's decision to raise him out around the wilds in northeastern France, after all; naturally, contact with others didn't come very frequently. Sure there were the animals in the forest, and the odd magical creature, but that... didn't exactly count. And when he started at Beauxbatons completely unprepared for social contact, well... it was there. Sort of. So far as the occasional minor conversation that the boy quickly enough shied out of to instead focus on his studies in general, that were his real specialty.
As long as he could do well in his classes then get out without incident, that was just fine for him. And if he could avoid trips like this a bit more often, that would be better still, but here he was back in England for a short trip nonetheless. Naturally enough, a trip revolving around one of his own talents so he could 'meet more people'. Sure, he'd meet them, technically, but past that... not to mention his present issue...
If one looked a bit harder than normal, perhaps he'd notice, but he wasn't expecting that to happen. He at least hoped it didn't happen, or he'd have to come up with something good... or, more likely, flee. Whatever was the case, his hair was pointedly set to cover where his ears should be; hardly a common style, especially when his hair wasn't very long, but one he hoped people wouldn't look too much into. Cementing the deal was his normal black beret worn atop his head... and a place in the waiting room for this little piano recital featuring kids around his age off to the side, away from everyone else. Not just for lack of any social ability to speak of, but because it would be rather disastrous if someone saw what was fairly obviously the work of magic. More specifically, an attempted animagi shift gone only partly right that he'd... not been able to completely rectify before arriving here. No, certainly nobody needed to see the black-furred, vulpine ears atop his head presently hidden by the beret, nor ever know about it before his mother might register him as an animagus once he was able to shift properly.
For now, he'd just keep to himself off to the side, near-soundlessly tap out a familiar tune he was going to play on the table before him, and get out as soon as his turn came and went.
