Eun sat at the local icecream parlour and just watched the passersby. There had to be some sign from the universe that would shine down on her when she finally spotted someone who was in her family. Someone who would be able to at least point her in the proper direction and maybe give her some clues about where she could find someone who would know her family. She licked her icecream and adjusted her sunglasses on her face. She wanted to spot some family trait. A stranger with her nose or an old man with her eyes. Eun took the photograph of her father out of her bag and looked it over. It was a photograph of her father when he was in school. His dark black hair was curly and his eyes were warm. She wished that she had more memories of him other than when he would kiss her scrapped knees all better and sing her lullabies in French.
She set the photograph on her table and picked up another spoonful of her tiramsu icecream and watched some of the crowd. She knew that she stuck out a bit, a Korean girl in Paris but this was her home too and somewhere in this city. She leaned over the table and hoped that someone with some answers or at least a kind word came by soon. She had no idea why she didn't do this before, but if her mother was going to pretend like she had no idea about her late husband's family, then Eun had no problem with pretending that she was still in Seoul hanging out at Hyun's family's bakery.
The boys were off somewhere, probably off on some date or something wonderful like that. She took out her cellphone and looked at the various text messages between her and Bae Hyung, how loving and caring they were. She couldn't stop smiling when she thought about him, but a part of her just wanted to text his brother to come and join her. She wanted to see what the older Hak could show her all around the city of lights. She sighed, put her phone down and took another bite of her icecream, watching the crowds for a familiar feature.
