Lenore was supposed to be with him. After they had taken their little boy out around the neighborhood so he could collect candy in his orange bucket they would leave the nanny to make sure he slept thought the night and together arrive at the party. Instead she was tired. His poor wife could barely keep her eyes open as she returned home and tucked their son in. To be fair Jackie had barely slept the night before. He was just so darn excited. For a whole week the five year old would demand to wear his astronaut costume.
Cooper let his son do so. It was nice to see him so excited for everything. After visiting Harrow all he could talk about was going back and petting the puppies. Jackie would come up to Cooper almost three times a day and ask if ’maybe one day if he was super good if he could have one’. It was almost heart breaking. As it was now Coop had plans to get one for Christmas, but he wasn’t sure if he could hold out that long. Lenore was always better at making sure that their son wasn’t spoiled rotten. That was most likely because she wasn’t the one carrying around so much guilt.
Coming clean to Harrow made it a little easier. Still he felt bad, Cooper felt like he was crushing this thing that Harrow loved so much. He knew how much his friend adored Lenore. There was no reason for anyone to not adore the woman. When they got married Harrow had made a speech wishing them nothing but happiness. He was also pretty darn sure that their relationship was this romantic picture of how a marriage should be. Nope.
Now he was leaving their house alone dressed up like a cowboy and all alone. He had sent a message to Oliver after Lenore apologized and kissed her husband goodbye for the night. Maybe the night wouldn’t be a bust. He could just relax and have fun at the party. Maybe somehow someway Harrow could even show up. The floo was a ridiculous thing and made the fact that he was half the country away from one of his best friends not such a daunting thing.
As he walked the bustling streets of Louisiana he took out his phone and even shot Harrow a message. ‘If Salem is lacking and want to live it up like we used to let me know. Jackie wore down Lenore today so looks like I’m going stag to this shindig.’ Though he would feel bad if Harrow ended up at the party alone and Oliver did in fact show up. Knowing Oliver by this time he would most likely be four drinks into the night at least two shots somewhere in between. Cooper even wouldn’t be shocked if Oli had misplaced his phone by now. When the man he loved partied he did it like it was his job. Cooper chalked it up to Oliver trying to out run this disease called domestication that seemed to be ‘plaguing his friends’.
Cooper arrived that the mansion that this party was taking place. There was already a crowd of people, drinks in hand. He walked over to the drink table and took up something that was purple and smelled like it was one step away from rubbing alcohol. He had never felt more alone in a crowded room. Hopefully one of his friends would messaged him back, or someone he happened to know popped up at the very least. As it was he was thinking that staying home and just going to be with the rest of his family was a better idea than being at this party.
