Salem was not a place had been in a while. The snow was falling and Hawthorne village was decorated for the holiday. Jade had forgotten how much like a gingerbread village this place looked around Christmas. For the past couple of years he had opted for being in warmer climates in December, away from his mother. He loved the woman she just got so depressing when it came to holidays.
There was something homey here and he wasn’t sure if it was everyone laughing and holding hands as they walked down the sidewalk or the fact that he was going to see Sparrow. He hadn’t seen her in a long time and Jade felt guilty about it. They were both busy people, she understood. Just because the understanding was mutual didn’t make it okay.
Soon he was in front of the Gnome. There where so many great memories of this place, form Salem. It was a known hang out for the kids, plenty of times he and Sparrow and a couple of other kids at the time pulled off some wild nights at the inn. Now Sparrow owned it had a smile pulled at his lips wondering if she let what they pulled slide under her watch. So much had changed around here and he knew it. The school now had a handful of professors that had once been his classmates. A different headmaster due in part to a particularly rowdy bunch that was in his graduating class. Still nothing would change the memories that were so dear to him. Hopefully he could add onto them now with visiting Sparrow.
He stepped into the Inn, it felt the same. One hand was in his pocket holding his wand out of habit. His wand knew to warn him if someone was about to harm him from behind. It hadn’t happened yet but little things he relied on the piece of blue spruce for.
“Sparrow?” He called out hoping that he was loud enough for her to hear. There were a few people hanging around the floor finishing up their drinks. Jade didn’t recognize any of them. He walked up to the bar and ordered a beer, asking the bartender too if they could track down the boss. Sure he had let her know short notice that he would be in town but she wasn’t one to stand him up. She was probably just busy starting closing duties for the Inn, in her office somewhere.
