Overall Personality:
Vivienne is a woman strong of mind, cunning and smart, however there is a darkness to her. Some say it is her vampire nature that has made her that way over the centuries yet she knows better, darkness has been in her soul long before she was turned. Vivienne has seen death on more than one occasion and thus was interested in things that caused death and decay, she loved to see the way things broke down to feed and nourish the living. As she was the only girl in her family to live past childhood, she was spoiled by her father, this made her see just what she is worth, her power, and she used it often to get things she wanted from both her parents and her older brother. She learned to manipulate the men in her life young, and manipulate them she did. Though she has a darkness to her though, there is a light inside her as well, a light that drives her better qualities like that of her unyielding loyalty.

Overall History:
In the wee hours of a cool morning in Autumn, young Vivienne was born to the Laird of the MacAlister clan and his young wife Mary. The birth was one of Mary's easiest, one that gave her almost little time to even receive a mid-wife before the bairn was being placed into her mother's arms. She was given the name Vivienne Iona MacAlister when she was christened a week later, held in the arms of her namesake, her aunt, Iona.
Vivienne was a spoiled girl, between her doting mother and father and her protective older brother Alexander, she wanted for nothing. Even when her brothers Duncan and Malcolm were born, she was treated like a princess, and her brothers all little princes. She loved her younger brothers, doting on them the way she was doted upon, so when young Duncan became ill, she wanted nothing more than to help take care of him. However, she was not allowed to help given her young age. She was only a bairn of eight when young Duncan passed away before her eyes, and there is when she was first touched by death. A year later, her four year old brother Malcolm died of smallpox and again she was there the moment her young brother had passed away.
Throughout her life, she knew that her family was different, but because of how things were, her mother kept the secret of their witch bloodline close to the chest. Her mother, a Pureblood, had married a muggle. Because of this, she rarely let her powers show outside of their immediate family. So when the letter came for her brother when she was ten she hoped that she would take after her mother, like her brother had. She had. Vivienne had shown signs of magic, plants seemed healthier around her, the flowers brighter, the herbs more plentiful. And when she finally turned eleven, her day and her letter came. Vivienne, like her brother, would attend Hogwarts.
Her first day wasn't quite as scary as she could see many thought it, as her brother Alexander was with her. However, Vivienne was a little thrown when unlike her brother who had been sorted into Gryffindor, she had been sorted into Ravenclaw. Still, her brother was there for her and that made her first year not nearly as scary. She made many friends, both in her house and in the other houses. She adored all her classes and studied hard, she practiced whenever she could, where ever she could because she knew that once she and her brother returned from school, they would once again need to hide their abilities from everyone but their mother, father and her sister that had been born only a month before Vivienne left for school. That first year was the best of her life, but her life was turned on it's head a week after she and her brother had returned in the summer of 1711. Her mother died of Typhus, however, unlike her brothers, her father and brother refused to let her be with her mother. Her mother was the only one she had not been with when she passed on, but death had touched her the most in that moment. That moment as she held her baby sister, trying to sooth the child, it was like young Abigail knew the moment of their mother's death as well. As a way to sooth Vivienne's sadness, her father gave her the wand her mother used.
When Vivienne and Alexander returned for their second and third years, Alexander warned her not to show any emotion to the beasts pulling the carriages. When she questioned why, he told her that few others could see them and those who could were often ridiculed or pushed away because the beasts were invisible to most and the mention of them was to be a bad omen. She listened to her brother, but when she first saw the Thestrals she couldn't believe how beautiful they were. That year she often found days when she could sneak to the pens were the Thestrals were kept, marveling over them.
During her fifth year, her sister died of dysentery. Again she felt death more strongly then than she had when she had been there with her brothers. She began to study in the library about ghouls and all things death related. She also began to take more interest in the Thestrals, watching them, giving them snacks, even naming a few of them. They gave her comfort where her brother could not. It was like this until she graduated from Hogwarts.
Her father and brother tried to marry her to other families but in this one case, she would not let them win. She wanted to marry for love and though many guys had tried to catch her eye, none did. For this, she refused to marry until she was ready.
When she was twenty, she was visiting her brother, who now owned a shop in Hogsmead, when a woman came across her, asking her for help. She helped the woman and then awoke the next day altogether different. Vivienne was now a vampire and decided to flee from where her father and brother would try to find her. She and Carmilla fled to France, where Carmilla's ways started to draw unwelcome attention. In 1757, villagers came for Carmilla, because Vivienne had been out, she had been spared. However, she was now alone. Smarter than Carmilla though, she talked her way onto a ship and made her way to the "New World". Her port of call? The French colony in Canada. Every ten to twenty years she would move a little further west until she came upon a place that reminded her of Hogwarts and Hogsmead... She could feel the magic, though it was different. The city seemed filled with her own kind, however, like Carmilla, they were drawing attention in the bad way and in 1813 she found herself and those like her betrayed by one of their own kind. She like so many others banished to a world like that of Dante's tale of hell. Where the dead walked about with no features, just shadows, lonely, so lonely, with nothing and no one. How long she wandered, she did not know, but then she felt a pull, strong it called to her.
Vivienne awoke in her body once again, as if she had never been killed in 2015. Though she was alive, she was weak, it took her some time, but she grew strong again, finding that vampires that die in that place she had called "home" for years before and after her 'death', would always return, some to empty corpses they left behind, some reformed from the earth like Adam and Lilith, others the spirits returning but seeking new - live - host bodies. However, no matter the number of their deaths, they would always return. Eventually though, Vivienne grew tired of the place, while staying had a perk, returning home was what she wanted. She wished to seek out any family her brother Alex may have left behind. She also missed Hogwarts and the Thestrals. And that is what drew her home to Scotland and Hogwarts where she hoped to become a teacher at the school.
