However, when she does make friends, which is a bit hard because of the astounding amount of bluntness that she exercises almost daily, she is loyal and caring, willing to drop just about everything to help them if they're in need. It's because of this loyalty that she tends to have a serious problem with people trying to hurt her friends, and while she might not be the most willing to take up the offensive position against them, she'll certainly help back up those who do. In addition to this, she tends to be a bit greedy, hoarding not only material objects, but her friends as well. This is something she's grown out of a bit, but she still tends to be a bit on the jealous side when she finds out her friends are doing something without her. She also has a tendency, and a theory that this is something that she picked up from her sister, to be a bit impulsive, often reacting before she thinks something completely through. Growing up, both her and her older sister, Isabella, were schooled frequently on the same teachings that their grandfather had believed in, and being a death eater, that meant that purebloods were of a different class than everybody else, that they were a superior race because their bloodline was untainted. Even from a young age, Summer was eager for knowledge, and drank in everything her father offered. When she was old enough to start reading more "grown up" books, it was rare to find her without a book in hand, reading in her favorite window seat overlooking the back yard or under one of the trees standing in their back yard. When she was ten, her sister got her Hogwarts letter, and while she was excited for Izzy, she couldn't help but feel a little sad. After all, the two girls had become close, and Izzy had always been more popular with the other kids around their home than she had. She was popular enough, and had enough friends, but it just wasn't the same. Still, she managed nine months without her sister, and the following year, received her own Hogwarts letter. Where she was sad only the year before, she was now excited and anxious for the next year to start. [break][break] Much like her sister, Summer had friends before she even stepped on the train, but she also made quite a few when she arrived at the school, despite her slightly anti-social tendencies. She was sorted into Ravenclaw, and feel quickly and easily into the life of living at Hogwarts. Over the next six years, Summer continued to make friends and do extremely well in her classes, except for Divination, despite the fact that some of them seemed to compare her to her sister the second she walked in the door. This quickly became something that she hated; she was her own person, why would people treat her like Iz? Still, there was precious little she could do about it, and she learned to just deal with it. It wasn't so hard, after all, she was used to being in her sister's shadow from when they were kids. Still, somehow, somewhere, she managed to find her niche, where she passed most of her OWLs, with the exception of Divination. Her sixth year came and went, mostly without consequence, and the only thing that really affected her was the idea that her sister wouldn't be back there with her the next year. As much as Izzy could get under her skin, she was still her older sister, and the idea of her not being there next year… made her a little sad. Not that she liked thinking about it. Either way, she was going back to Hogwarts next year, without her sister, and she had every plan to make it her best year yet. [break][break] Her last year was certainly one to remember. When she wasn't studying for her NEWTs, she was having tons of fun with her friends, sneaking out late at night, going to parties in the Room of Requirement… everything. That was how she met Matt. He was everything that she shouldn't have liked; arrogant, loud, obnoxious, a rule breaker that stuck his nose in everybody's business and spent more time cradling a bottle of alcohol, already three sheets to the wind, then he did doing mostly anything else… Maybe that was exactly why she did like him. Either way, against her friend's advice, the two had a whirlwind romance, one that may or may not have ended with a drunken hookup that she hadn't really wanted to do either way, but she gave into him. After that night, he dumped her flat, and she was left heartbroken, with what felt like nobody to turn to. To this day, she doesn't even know if her sister knows about it, she certainly wasn't telling. Soon enough, NEWTs were completed, and Summer found herself applying for Aridorn. She had always loved education and learning new things, so this seemed like the most logical next step. Besides, her grades were high enough to go, and she needed to get out of Europe for a while. [break][break] However, once she had said her goodbyes and was safely tucked away at Aridorn, her sister contacted her with some surprising news. Well, not a huge surprise per se, but it was enough to shock her. Izzy was pregnant. She was going to have a baby! The idea that her sister was going to have a child was mind boggling, but she couldn't exactly say that the thought surprised her… after all, she was more deeply in love with Rowan than she had ever seen anybody be in love before. But a baby! At first, she had been worried about what their parents would say; after all, Rowan was a muggleborn and Bella had gotten backlash for just dating the poor boy, but having a baby? That would be hell, no doubt about it… Still, she stuck by her sister through everything, and was by her sister's side the moment the baby came, school be damned. Now she's close to finishing her first year at Aridorn, and while she might love school, a part of her can't wait to get back and see, and spoil, her adorable little nephew again. [break][break] THE PLAYER[break][break] Age: 21[break] Time Zone: GMT-6 [aka Central] [break] Anything Else? Horntail[break][break] Roleplay Sample: [break] It had been just a week since school had ended, and already Summer was missing the scheduled routine that accompanied everyday life at school. It wasn’t that she didn’t love being home, that she hadn’t missed it, but during the nine months that she had school, she grew accustomed to seeing her friends every single day. Sure, she had her sister, but it just wasn’t the same as sitting around with her friends, gossiping and laughing as they finished their homework by the lake. Isabella had her own worries, her own friends, and while they were still close, Summer couldn’t help but feel the separation. And now, her sister was wrapped up with some American that she had met at the Triwizard Tournament. Sure, she had made friends, like Lislotte, but no guy had moved across an ocean to be with her. She was happy for Iz, she was, but at the same time, she couldn’t help but wonder if she was settling for the American man. Sure, Rowan was nice enough, but at the same time, she wasn’t sure that she saw the appeal, and besides, he was taking her sister away from her, and that was something that she just couldn’t picture. [break][break] It wasn’t that Summer was jealous of Rowan in any kind of messed up way, but the reality was that Iz was her sister, and they had been together practically since birth. That kind of bond wasn’t one that broke because of distance, or because of something like a guy coming into her sister’s life. After all, even when Isabella had been dating Daemon, they hadn’t grown distant, despite Summer’s maddening, lingering school girl crush on the boy with piercing blue eyes who probably saw her as nothing more than a little sister. Still, she had some small semblance of hope that he could see her as more than that, though small was a bit of an overstatement. Get ahold of yourself, Summer. Daemon treats you like a little sister, you know better than to get your hopes up… It was something she repeated to herself whenever she got those kinds of thoughts about her (cringe) good friend, but most of the time it did little to staunch her hope, despite the fact he had passed her over time and time again. Hopefully this trip to Norway would help her clear her head a little bit, hopefully it would be just what she needed. [break][break] Smiling, Summer looked at her sister as she shifted over, sitting down next to her. These were the kinds of moments they didn’t really have at Hogwarts, since the two of them were in completely different dorms, and she was pretty sure that the Slytherin girls wouldn’t appreciate a Ravenclaw girl infiltrating their space, no matter how much of a friend she was to them as well. Her sister spoke, and she found herself smiling and laughing a little, eyeing her sister’s room and thinking of her own, which was in a state of disarray. Granted, to her, a state of disarray was a few things out of place, and even then it was hardly a mess. “You’re avoiding unpacking, I’m avoiding repacking…” It wasn’t that she wasn’t excited to go see her friend, she was; it had been far too long since she had seen her friend, and there was something about the letters that they had been exchanging that made her wonder what was really going on here. She knew that her friend was pregnant, but she didn’t know whether or not there was more to the story than that. She just didn’t know. [break] |
