She never likes to be the center of attention, and much prefers to stick to the shadows. She keeps her secrets close to pocket, and doesn't have many friends to speak of. It's not that she isn't nice, she's just closed herself off. Her walls to other people aren't all that strong though, she just has a very convincing facade. If anyone approached Lena and tried to have a conversation with her, Lena tends to be kind and thoughtful. She's sarcastic, witty, and very sly. Her silver tongue has gotten her out of more sticky situations than she would care to admit that she got herself into. It makes up for her lack of physical presence.[break][break] Lena's worst fear is that she would end up just like her mother. Her roommates have put a silencing charm around her bed because of how often she talks in her sleep, or wakes up screaming. The fire took a toll on Lena mentally, and she's not sure if she can ever recover from the guilt of what she had done. Lena acts as if she has to do everything in her power to redeem herself from the fire. She's driven by her guilt to be a good person. [break][break] HISTORY[break][break]Family:[break] • Fenrir Greyback, Half Blood, Biological Father[break] • Riley Porter, 28, Half Blood, Mother [deceased][break] • Various other half-siblings through Fenrir[break] • Name, Age, Blood Status, Relationship[break] • Name, Age, Blood Status, Relationship[break] Birth Place: Whitechapel, England[break] Overall History: The werewolf Fenrir Greyback was known throughout the wizarding world for being the most savage of beasts there was. Talk about him was merely that at the time though, just talk. Twenty year old Riley Porter never thought she had anything to worry about walking home one fateful night in Whitechapel. Fenrir attacked and raped Riley Porter and left her for dead. The woman was stronger than she appeared and made it to St. Mungos in a terrible condition, but alive. Fast forward several weeks, and the woman had come to find she had been impregnated by Fenrir. [break][break] Riley didn't have a great family growing up, and there was really no one she could turn to in her time of need. She carried the baby, not quite knowing what the future held for her. Eight months had passed, and it was at that time Riley decided she wanted to have an abortion. Riley was scared of what having a child at twenty could mean for her, and she tried to opt out. Riley tried her luck at all of the nearby hospitals, but she was simply too far along for them to even want to try. Riley turned to alternative means. The woman paid good money for a so-called 'licensed' doctor to perform the abortion. In hindsight, Riley realized the man was just in it for the money, as he botched the abortion and took off. Covered in blood and fluids, Riley once more managed to make it back to St. Mungos with the little baby in tow. Rather than tending to Riley's every whim, the baby was the important one. The staff were all so happy the little one survived, and of course Riley was a horrible mother for attempting such a thing. [break][break] It was a few days before Riley was even allowed to see her child. Though she didn't want it and the stigma tied with having a baby at such a young age, Riley couldn't seem to give up the little girl after she first held her in her arms. She named her baby Lena. [break][break] Lena's childhood left something to be desired. The first few years might have been okay, the girl couldn't really remember that young. All her life, all Lena had remembered was her mother heavily drinking and cursing the girl for being born. Riley provided food and shelter for little Lena, but that was about as far as her motherly tendencies went. Lema had to figure out how to fend for herself. She wasn't particularly big, strong, or fast, so where she lacked in physicality, Lena made up for it in wit and cunning. She could wiggle her way out of any situation with her silver tongue. [break][break] As Lena began getting older, her mother became more physical. There would be nights that she would beat Lena for the most menial of things, throw empty glass bottles, and verbally abuse the child. By the age of seven she had been to St Mungos no less than three times for broken bones. Lena knew going to the authorities would end less than desirably for her if her mother found out. She was smart. She had to be smart about this. A few months after Lena turned eight, Riley was in another particularly foul, drunken mood. She beat Lena again, breaking the little girls arm one last time in the process. Lena had had enough. It was time to act.[break][break] In all things Lena does, she plans carefully and methodically. She only had one shot at this. Lena waited for the opportune moment. It was another night that Riley had drunken herself to the point of blacking out. There was no chance of her waking up from this one. Lena locked all of the doors, leaving only one window open for her grand escape. Beer bottles were strewn all around Riley, there's no way it wouldn't look like negligence on her part. Lena climbed outside of her window before carefully placing candles on the window sill and a pile of magazines underneath them. With one of the lit candlesticks, Lena torched the curtains, dropped the candle on the magazines, shut the window and left. [break][break] For the next three years Lena had been living on her wit alone. Times had been tough, but anything was better than the wretched place she used to call home. Sometimes she feels regret for what she had done. The following days she had read the papers. House fire, body of Riley Porter found dead, body of eight-year-old Lena Porter not yet uncovered - assumed dead. She had skipped several towns over, predicting that no one there would know her face. During her time in hiding, Lena found she loved spending her nights in the cemeteries. There was usually an empty mausoleum she could curl up in for the night, and the dead didn't talk (save for the occasional ghost she ran into. They were usually pleasant company). [break][break] When Lena turned eleven she got her unexpected letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She was curious as to how anyone could have known where she was to even send an owl to her - or the fact that the entire world thought her dead. Still, Lena knew Hogwarts would be better for her than sleeping in the dirt every night. Once there she was sorted into the Slytherin house. It was curious to Lena. The title of 'evil' that was generally attached to Slytherin, but she never felt.. Well, inherently evil. She did what she had to to survive. Was that such a bad thing? [break][break] THE PLAYER[break][break] Age: 20 [break] Time Zone: [break] Anything Else? ADMIN EDIT[break][break] Roleplay Sample: It was a beautiful, bright and sunny day in Diagon Alley. The kind of day that Ellie Wood would absolutely adore -- And that she did. Even if she was a sports crazed girl, Ellie was still, indeed, a girl. So, Ellie took the day off from her regular, harsh, summer Quidditch practice schedule (as enforced by her Quidditch nut father) and decided to do some regular girl things; like shopping. [break][break] Ellie started at one of her favorite (and rather posh) clothing stores, Twilfit & Tattings, spending a good amount of time there, and probably more than a good amount of money, on clothes she didn't need. Though, she would fiercely deny this to anyone that called her out on it.[break][break] After her spell at Twilfit & Tattings, Ellie went to her most favorite shop of all; Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. The store was started by two of Ellie's all time pranking idols, Fred and George Weasley, legends at Hogwarts (and much to Ellie's chagrin, Peeves' favorite students. He never shuts up about how Ellie won't measure up to the mischievous pair). Ellie made her way through the store, her eyes glimmering at every new knick-knack the shop had to offer. [break][break] She also left that store spending money far too frivolously. [break][break] After strolling around, and buying more items than she needed, Ellie spotted Florean Flortescue's Ice Cream Parlour. Her eyes lit up at the mere thought of splurging herself on the sugary goodness that was Florean's ice cream. Her father would probably keel over from a heart attack if he knew she was about to indulge herself on something this 'bad' for her.[break][break] But father dearest was not around. So, what he didn't know wouldn't hurt him... Right? [break][break] That was Ellie's train of thought as she bounded into the ice cream parlour. She rather impatiently waited in line, and when it got to be her turn, Ellie ordered the largest bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream she could buy. Smiling, Ellie paid the worker behind the register (who was giving her a strange look the whole time... Who eats that much ice cream?) and cheerily walked to the tables outside to enjoy the sun and her beloved, sugary treat. She ate in silence, waiting to see if someone she knew would pass the streets, and relieve her of her momentary loneliness... [break] |
