Esme woke with a startled expression upon his lips. His sister had woken him up to go shopping for school supplies; she was finally going to Hogwarts. He wasn’t sure how to feel about it though. On one hand he’d be able to keep an eye on her but on the other she’d always be there. Don’t get him wrong, he loved Lorraine dearly, but she always insecently asked him questions and it annoyed the hell out of him.

Before he knew it he could hear her yelling for him to hurry up. He shook his head and rubbed the matter from the corners of his eyes. “I’m coming!” he yelled as he sat up. It wasn’t an angry yell, more annoyed than anything. He looked over at him clock to check the time: 7:00 AM. He grumbled to himself and got up out of bed.

Slumping over to his dresser he stepped over a pile of dirty cloths and got his robes out and cloths to wear. It didn’t take him long to get dressed and comb his hair. Next thing he knew Raine was in his room, and she was very loud. “I’m up, ok.” He said quetly. He wasn’t fully up yet and she was very loud.

Esme reached over to his desk and picked up his money. Slipping it in his pocked he spoke softly, “If you’re good I’ll buy you an owl.” He smiled at her gently. They’d take the floo network to get there. “Let’s go, fireplace.” He said soft but stern. With that he headed downstairs to the living room.

He went to the floo powder and took a hand ful, “Ok, now do what I do.” He said to Raine before stepping inti the fireplace. “Diagon Alley.” He said clearly and then was gone in a puff of flames.

Esme listened to her question and nodded, “I’ve got your list.” He said confidently, it had been on his desk with all his money. He fished into his pocket and pulled it out; reading the top line out loud: “First year supplies. Let’s start with books.” He said almost cheerful. He was happy to spend some time with his little sister. Soon he’d be dealing with boyfriends and no longer being cool enough to hang with. Eame wanted to keep things like this as long as he could.

When she saw the owls and ran off he smiled, part of him wishing he hadn’t opened his mouth earlier about getting her an owl. He chucked a little to himself, she got the nickname from when she was little; it was all she could say. Now she just said because she wanted too. “We’ll come back, promise.” He said before turning for the book store.

Once inside he looked at his list again “Ok, you need: The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1 by Miranda Goshawk , A History of Magic by Bathilda Bagshot, Magical Theory by Adalbert Waffling, A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration by Emeric Switch, One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi by Phyllida Spore, Magical Drafts and Potions by Arsenius Jigger, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander and The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection by Quentin Trimble.” He said he went to the front counter, “First year books please” he said politely. The old man nodded and went to get the books.

He came back with a large stack of books “What year are you?” he asked Esme. “Seventh this year.” Esme figured they should get his stuff too. The man behind the counter nodded and said he’d be right back. Esme nodded and turned to Raine, “Got your backpack?” he asked as the man returned with his 7th year books. Esme paid for everything and spoke again “We should get your wand next, that’s next door at Olivander’s.”
