He entered the dining hall with the rest of his classmates and sat down. His Seventh year was going to be wild and exciting, he was sure of it. One of his friends had dared him to enter his name into the goblet. He had never ever imagined in a million years that they would actually call his name. But, the person who was announcing the winners suddenly announced "And from Salem we have ELIJAH SMITH." All eyes were on him. What? No. No. It had been just a joke. A hoax. It wasn't supposed to actually happen.
Except it was. Couldn't he just take it back? Explain to the Headmaster and the people running this that it was just a joke? Tell them that he had been just kidding and that he never meant to actually get chosen?
Everyone was cheering. He felt hot. And sick. He suddenly wasn't hungry anymore, even though he couldn't remember the last time he ate. What would his parents think? Would they be proud? Scared? How was his mother going to take the news? She was always so cautious. Over protective. "I think you're supposed to join the other champions." The boy to his right said. "Oh." His deep voice came out as a squeak. Was it just him or was the room spinning? He stood up and made his way through the dining room, to where the others were standing. He felt like he was going in slow motion. He stood next to the others and waited for the next instructions.
He desperately wanted to pinch his face to see if this was a dream. A nightmare, actually. But, with so many people watching him he knew he couldn't. But he would the first chance he got. There was no way this was real.
