Adelaide knew that things were crashing all around her, but there was little she could really do to stop any of it. Her boyfriend was constantly ignoring her, further proving that she made a mistake in even giving him the time of day, let alone a second chance with her heart. She knew that Lykke was trying to be a sympathetic friend, but she knew that he was doing some I told you so dance on the inside, which really didn't make her feel much better about the whole situation. She wanted contact with her best friend, but she also knew that he would just tell her to move on, and then snuggle up with his boyfriend. What did Lykke really know about what she was going through? Addie ran her hand along the smooth stone walls, already missing the gruff and rough stone of Durmstrang. It was much warmer in the south of France than she was used to. It was the middle of the night and she woke up panicking about the upcoming 'we have to talk' lunch with her parents. They were being tight lipped about what they wanted to talk about, but she knew that Leslie would be there too. Running her hand over her close cut hair, she sat down on the stone ledge of the window sill, knowing that she was playing a dangerous game with being caught by a professor. She just wanted the best view of the ocean possible. Her pajama shorts didn't do much to keep the coldness from the stone from her legs, but she liked it that way. A small bite of the cold that reminded her of Norway and the school that she loved.
A part of her knew that she would never forgive Esme for ditching her the way that he did. How careless he was with her heart and how he made her believe that he would do anything to be with her. Why would he? There were dozens of beautiful girls in Durmstrang. All fair skinned, blonde hair and blue eyes. The type of girls who get fawned after. She was different. She was an idiot for believing him and she knew that she would be miserable every time she spotted his face in a crowd. The guy who promised to care for her, who whispered sweet words to her, and swore that they were true. She should have known better, but she didn't. Addie looked out the window, watching the waves crash on the shore. It was relaxing, for once she felt calm in the new school. Like there wasn't danger around every corner looking for her.
