With Quidditch and Lily being in the triwizard the year had just flown by so far. It was already October and October meant people were going crazy with Halloween festivities. The school even throwing another gathering. All of these kids in one place it was frantic.
Hugo was sitting on his bed and looking through his potions textbook trying to finish this paper. But his eyes hurt from looking over the writing for so long and the dorm just seemed so quiet. He sighed and looked over looking at the clock. It was later than he thought.
Raising his arms over his head he stretched out his back and stood poking his head out of the room and looking around. There was no one around. He cocked a brow thinking it over. Then he realized that most everyone was probably of partying. Anymore if Lily wasn’t keeping track and making sure he actually was social Hugo would lock himself in a room and just study.
Maybe he should just skip the party, he was late anyway and Lily probably wasn’t even there. Knowing her she would have found a way to Aridorn to spend time with her boyfriend. And really she should, he was sure that Scorp was just worrying his brain into mush with the news that Lily went and put her name in the cup. So far it was all pretty harmless but Hugo knew better than to think that someone couldn’t get killed in the tournament.
Walking back over to his bed he sighed again thinking if he even had anything to wear as a costume. He didn't’ have much, never being the biggest fan of the holiday. Or at least not since he got too big to receive free candy from the neighbors. So he threw something together. Just putting on a button down and jeans and some shoes and then painting his face so it looked like a skeleton.
He stared at himself in the mirror for a while looking at the black and white paint on his face. “Good enough,” Hugo mumbled with a shrug. He was up and walking down to the great hall where everyone was decked out and the music was already playing. There were people laughing and having a grand time.
This was a mistake. Hugo stood off to the side of the entrance not even noticing anyone he recognized. Without Lilly or Ella around he just didn’t do this sort of thing. And he hadn’t see Bobby sense school had started, that only made him feel like crap. Either that meant Bobby was avoiding him, or something else. It was probably the former knowing how it must have looked to the blonde with him just moving on like nothing had happened, looking better than ever and even leading the quidditch team to victories right out the gate. It wasn’t as easy as it looked. Hugo was one step from a hermit. As was apparent from him just awkwardly looking out onto the dancing crowd rubbing his arm.
