She refuses to believe that anyone could know what’s best for her since they aren’t her. Nevertheless, she has a warm heart and wants nothing more than to do well in life while keeping true to herself. This being said, she doesn’t try to be deliberately rebellious and doesn’t mind considering other people’s advice but when people try to order her around, she becomes less receptive and can often times shut down completely. [BREAK][BREAK] ”If you pretend to be something long enough than eventually you might just become than… Right?” [BREAK][BREAK] One of her driving forces is her desire to prove her own self-worth and is sometimes struggles with her self-confidence. While she knows her lingering self-doubt is what hold her back the most, she still can’t help but feeling inadequate. Since finding out she was a witch, these feelings have been even more of a struggle for Rode. She knows she doesn’t have the same advantage as children from wizarding families and this preys upon her mind as she worries about being able to make the cut in this new world. [BREAK][BREAK] The wind is my hero. It as wild and unpredictable as the ocean but can’t be bottled and tamed. [BREAK][BREAK] Rode strives to be fierce, self-reliant and courageous. She knows who she is and doesn’t care what other people think of her. Despite her doubts and fears of not being able to make it, she’s always know who she is as well as who she wants to become. To Rode, it doesn’t matter what other people think of her, only what she thinks of herself. It’s part of the reason she struggles when people tell her how she needs to be. Even those who know her best can never truly understand who she is. There had been a few times where they were sure their dream had finally come true, but it was always a false alarm. That was, until about ten years ago. After so many years of spending nearly all they had to try everything from modern medicine to alternative remedies, it finally happened. The couple was stoked. They put their meager remaining saving towards the coming baby. The last thing they were excepting was for her to miscarry. [break] It was too early. The baby wasn’t ready but she couldn’t fight it. Her husband rushed her to the hospital. The baby didn’t make it and she was forced to have an emergency hysterectomy. Their dream was dead, buried with their first child. [break][break] She was young, only nineteen at the time. Unlike her sister, she didn’t want a family. Her dream was to be a successful young woman, living in a nice flat in the heart of a bustling city. Bur her naivety betrayed her. She thought she was a smart girl, bad things didn’t happen to smart girls. They were in love. At least, that’s what she thought. In her eyes, he could do no wrong. There was something about him, something different that she couldn’t place. He was perfect. She would have never expected him to leave her in her time of need. But that’s exactly what he did. When he learned she was pregnant, he ran and she never heard from him again. He had ruined her life and then abandoned her. [break] Little did she know, the unwanted child was just what her sister needed. When her sister learned about her mistake, she jumped on the chance to take the child. It had been five years since they had given up on hope, the last thing they were expecting was this miracle. [break][break] Afraid of losing this child too, Rode’s parents were very protective of her growing up. The couple found it difficult to accept Rode’s curious, wild nature. When they did manage to get her inside, she would create exciting fantasies about traveling to exotic and dangerous places. If left unattended for too long, she would take to sliding down the stairs or scaling bookcases and other tall pieces of furniture. By the age of ten, she had broken her arm three times and had a collection of scars that shamed most of the little boys in her neighborhood. [break] On top of being hard to pin down, she had also been a bit different. As she got older, odd things would just happen around her. Her parents, who had been very open about how Rode became their daughter, often let her birth mother babysit as she got older. She was seven years old the first time she watched her alone. As she was preparing dinner, she couldn’t find the broccoli she had just bought anywhere. Instead, she found a curiously shaped lump of candy floss in its places. The pretty pink Easter dress her mother had bought her one year had mysteriously turned a distinct shade of lime green, after having discovered her father’s razor and shaving off both her eyebrows, they grew back the very next day. Other little things like this would happen too. When she received the letter inviting her to a school for witches and wizards, her parents were surprised that such a thing existed, but not that their daughter might be magical. [break][break] Her parents were faced with a choice they had never thought they would have to make. Rode would stay up well into the night listing at her parents’ door, wishing with all her might that they might let her go. It was better than any story she had made up because it was real. She spent her days trying to be on her best behavior and prove that she could go to this new school. They hesitantly gave her permission, knowing that they couldn’t hold onto her forever. However, they made it clear that if she was every put in danger or got into serious trouble, that it would be the end of Hogwarts for her. [break][break][break][break] THE PLAYER[break][break] Age:21[break] Time Zone:i dunno. Whatever timezone Turkey is in. [break] Anything Else? Apparently I need a horntail?[break][break] Roleplay Sample: The overcast sky swirled with subtle patterns that teased the eyes of anyone who tried to make since of them. A light mist made the air feel heavy and threatened to fill the rest of the day with yet another bout of rain. Occasionally, the wind would sigh and causing the landscape to stir during its otherwise deep slumber. As if agitated by the disturbance, the trees would shake their leafy heads, causing miniature showers to fall on unsuspecting folk. [break][break] The rough tree bark pressed into Rode’s back as she supported herself with its trunk. Moisture seeped into her clothes as the ground cradled the rest of her. With pale skin and hair the color of dying embers, she stuck out amongst the muted earth tones of her surroundings. Peeking out from the bag next to her was an assortment of study equipment that had been forgotten in favor of an earthworm who was visiting the surface world. [break][break] “Well aren’t you a brave little creature, It's dangerous up here for something like you.” noted the young woman as she scooped the wiggling critter with a handful of mud. She spoke softly, her voice punctuated with an Irish lilt. As if in response to her comment, it exposed more of its tubular body to the damp spring air before diving back into the moist earth. [break][break] “I wonder what it’s like to be you. It can’t be very exciting, eternally tunneling through darkness with no destination. Maybe you’re different though. I mean, there must be a reason you came here after all. Are you an adventurer? Or maybe you’re just lost.” Rode gingerly placed the handful of dirt containing the worm back on the ground. Attempting to clean the rest of the muck from her hands, she gave them a hard shake followed by brushing them off on her knees. [break][break] She wished it farewell and good luck as it disappeared back into the bowls of the planet. “If you ever happen by me again, maybe I’ll show you something new.” She whispered quietly after it with a sigh. “But probably not.”[break] |
